My water pump is leaking at 105,000km thank you for the detailed DIY I think I am going to do it myself. The dealership quoted $700 to get it done...

We just had ours replaced, luckily under the Lexus extended warranty. Documents show the cost (but covered by Lexus) was $461.00 Great write-up for those who want to save a good chunk of change by DIY.

THis is one of the best write-ups I've seen on any forum. OP, thank you! I'm sure I will need this in the future.
And yesh, this should be a sticky.

Thanks for the write-up! Did mine tonight. Pretty easy. May want to change that 7/32 Allen wrench to an 8mm Allen wrench. Might be the reason why yours started to strip, other than needing money for college or maybe she's a single mother...Hey I don't judge lol. But seriously great write-up. I did find that if I positioned the mixing valve just right it will rest on the valve cover it is under.

I used the same water pump! Great write up! It took about 2.5 hours going slow and drinking a few beers in between!

Aisin seems to be highly recommended and about 1/2 the price of Lexus OEM.

FYI you don't have to actually remove the tensioner pulley

Thanks for the DIY. 09 with 104k miles on the original pump. I used the AISIN pump as well. I believe it's the same as OEM
