Headlights

I'm going to be pulling my headlights apart to black them out. I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations on additional caulking when putting them back together. Or is this not necessary? I don't want to have to deal with any leaks in the future. Thanks in advance for the info.

I did that to mine and they leaked. I believe my problem was that I put too much caulking and left a couple gaps in the corners.

You can use butyl rubber or silicone. Just put enough that it squeezes and you have a good seal. For the butyl, you have to make sure it is warm and moldable or it won't seal.

I like the idea of using butyl rubber. In the event that you have to reopen the headlights, it's much easier.
