They're gone!! Mufflers deleted!

I was going to replace the stock exhaust with an aftermarket one (undecided which yet) in the fall, but I just couldn't get rid of that itch that had me craving more loud!!

Went to my local exhaust shop this morning and an hour later I was driving home with the old mufflers in the trunk!

They did an excellent job and the sound is exactly what I was looking for! Best 80 bucks I've spent!

The drone isn't as bad as I thought and I'm still planning on the new exhaust later in the year. (Waiting on the reviews on the H&S)

sounds great. So you just have the mufflers gone? nothing else altered or removed?

zmcgovern4 Jun 27, 2016 08:26 AM

Sounds good :)

I bought my car with the mufflers already removed... sounds OK, but the drone is a little excessive. At certain RPMs the entire interior feels like it is shaking.

I'm planning on buying an X Force Exhaust for a bit more refined sound and some more power.

^ I made the switch from muffler delete to the X force Varex - even in the open position, the Varex has almost no drone. In the closed position it is just like stock.

I think you will be happy with the Xforce. I will be selling my muffler delete Y section very soon..

Thanks for the feedback. I had the mufflers cut off and straight pipes welded on.

This is just temporary until I've decided on the new exhaust. I'm patiently waiting on feedback on the Hayward & Scott but I also like the sound from the Joe Z and X Force.

I'm washing the car at the moment so I'll take better pics later

After you deleted your mufflers do you get a popping noise when you decelerate? I researched and most people say its just backfire

I only experienced it once but it was a pretty aggressive downshift from 3rd to 2nd in manual mode, apart from that it's more of a nice burble sound.

The video doesn't really do it justice but I'm really pleased with the result and there's no rasp like I've heard on some cat/ resonator delete videos either.

Oooo.. Nothing will compare to the H&S... ;)

I too just had this done last weekend but I had the resonator removed as well. Drone isn't bad at all. Anything under or over 2k and it's perfect. I feel as though it lost some low end grunt. Did yours?

Yep, thought it was just me! Next on the list is an APEXi throttle controller, that should cure the problem! :driving:

Awesome! There's gonna be a lot of happy peeps out there!

^^^^So did you decide to go with the Hayward & Scott over the X-Force?

And I can't say enough good things about the Apexi throttle controller, you'll love it.

You've got 2 of the 3 most effective mods (#3 being the upgraded front lower control arm bushing).

ROYALISF Jun 27, 2016 11:47 AM

Not to hijack the thread but where did you get the best deal on the throttle controller?
