Moved to Orange County from south a while ago and have neglected to get my car re-registered after numerous failed attempts to find a SMOG station that would pass my non-carb parts. I dont have the OE parts anymore and will register it in another state if I cannot find a SMOG station to pass my car before registration up next month....that being said anyone have success with FBO ISFs passing smog? Any reccomendations or strategy’s? Thanks in advance!
1) You cannot have a CEL (Check Engine Light) - automatic FAIL
2) You need to scan your car with any basic scanner to see if ALL the emission monitors are in "OK" or "READY" or "COMPLETE" status, whatever language your tool uses.
- if even one monitor is "INCOMPLETE" - automatic FAIL
3) You need a shop which is not too eager to go through visual inspection.
Rossi is entirely correct on this, in particular the second point mentioned. Numerous FBO IS Fs have passed, especially here in this strict state. Mine passed last month, and I was more worried about anything that would've popped up via the OBDII scan. If you're really short on time, take it to an AutoZone and ask to use their code reader. If there are no issues, and those main items that Rossi listed are "OK", then you should pass. The visual portion, on the other hand, is at the sole discretion of the technician.
If you're local to the SoCal area, there are some shops that members can recommend via PM that can help with your situation (with some added help from the wallet, of course).

Awesome, yeah I know I will pass the OBD test, that’s all we had in Georgia. If you know of any shops I’d appreciate a PM. I checked some spots in Santa Ana to no avail, straight up told me no it won’t pass.
