Exactly!!!!

I wouldn't want to be putting coolant in my $60k car every two days either. Sounds like you need to bite the bullet and take it in for the service man. Open a case with Lexus corp and hope they're willing to cover part of it.

Yeah, even my wife noticed it!

On a side note, the guy that did the service on her car replaced all the o ring seals on the injectors and didn't break a single clip or injector. no idea how, so i'd recommend tom wood lexus in indianapolis for this particular service. anyone know the part number for the wire cover?

So, I just got word from Lexus that this has failed again. They performed the service 50,000 miles ago @ roughly 81K for the first and only owner. They are sticking tough with their 12 Month/12k miles warranty on the service and I am at 132K. Total disappointment in Lexus of Nashville. I guess I am going to have to get with corporate. Any and all advice appreciated. Anyone had this done TWICE??

Guys is it normal to see coolant level seating at low when engine is cold then goes back up to full when motor is hot and running?

This morning I saw it was seating at low, then I went to advanced auto parts to pick up coolants then it was at full.
I'm confused.

mine is 2011 and about to hit 88k miles soon
starting to think I should pay a visit to dealer soon

That is normal operation, however, it should be full cold. When it is hot it will be above the full line.

Do you have the original service order? Does it specify if they used the exorbitantly expensive coolant sealant to perform the repair? If they did not, you could claim they failed to follow the factory service manual when performing the repair which caused the failure you are experiencing today.

I actually bought a tube of that stuff just in case I need it, but holy crap it's expensive.

Thanks for the reply! I actually did force my SA to pull up the history and the repair order from the previous owner and this is what they used:

Nothing like the pictures of repair orders/receipts that I have seen earlier in this thread!

I have to bring this to their attention and ask why they did not adhere to replacing and using all the specified parts:

The following info was taken directly from my invoice:
Condition: Guest tops up coolant every week. Found coolant on driveway.
Cause: Coolant leaking from heat exchanger assembly.
Correction: Removed intake manifold and heat exchanger to reseal. LWAL Goodwill. Resealed heat exchanger assembly and replaced broken connectors
Qty 2 / Part 17177-38040 / Desc. Gasket
Qty 1 / Part 82817-30L40 / Desc. Protector
Qty 2 / Part 96761-35035 / Desc. Ring, O
Qty 2 / 08826-00100-WA / Desc. Sealant
Qty 4 / 90980-12117 / Desc. Housing, Connector
Qty 1 / 22271-38020 / Desc. Gasket
Qty 5 / Desc. Labour

That looks like they used the right stuff. It is not the usual Toyota black stuff.

On the first picture (mine), I don't see that part number. I only see 2 part numbers, which does not seem correct based on the other posts I have seen in this thread (other pictures I was referencing) that have 6-8 part numbers for this job.

Your first picture references an o-ring and nothing more. There is no sealant listed in the first picture.
