Agree, it should be as advertised, or change the literature.

Drove my car into work today, took a few vids. The first may be the most relevant - highway cruise with valve closed and open and some light acceleration.

Surprisingly, you can pick up the difference in the vid. With valve closed it is just like stock IMO.

Car has a drop in filter, intake elbow and Varex exhaust - stock headers with cats (which I plan to gut in the near future).

Also took some city cruising and light acceleration with valve open and closed.

Valve Closed:

Best way to view/listen to these is with headphones or with a system that has a subwoofer. The deepness of the exhaust tone dos not come through in my stock laptop/computer speakers.

Thanks Vervish! That is very helpful - the difference is clear with headphones. With the valve closed, it really does sound like stock. Remind me: are you on headers or manifolds? I understand that open valve is the best choice for performance, but how would you describe the power delivery with the valve closed? Noticeable difference vs. open?

Glad it helped. I am on stock headers. only mods are an intake elbow, drop in filter and the exhaust.

I drive 99% of the time with the valve in the open position, the few times I had it closed and accelerated hard it felt a tiny bit slower to me, but it might just be the placebo effect of the quieter exhaust tone...not sure. For normal and moderate acceleration, I notice no difference open vs closed.

One issue I do have, is that with the valve closed, under hard acceleration (above 4,500 RPM) I get a slight hissing sound from the rear (sounds like a high pressure leak). Not sure if it is a leak at the connection where the midpipe meets the mufflers or if it is the muffler itself. It is definitely coming from the muffler area.. With the valve open, it sounds great.

Cool, thanks. I've been PMing with another member and he noticed the same hissing/leaking sound with the valve closed on his car coming from the muffler.

Anyone else by chance been able to measure the piping diameter of their system?

Im still waiting to hear back from Meraki with a confirmation from XForce themselves.

Ohhhh, you're measuring ID? Yeah that makes more sense. Pretty sure most piping is measured by the OD.

Yeah that was my thought. Looks like OD is 2.5" as advertised.

hmm - sucks if it Is the muffler itself..mine sounds like the leak is on the passenger side rear. Since I drive with it almost open all the time, not a big deal for me.

Out of curiosity those that have the noise is it constant when valve closed or only under heavy acceleration? Would you view this as a reason not to get the Varex system?

Like the other guy said for the most part i drive with it open also. I only close it for police or leaving and coming home late. I barely ever have it closed when driving, but its a nice option to have.
