Smog Visit in CA

I've been into 2nd gen MR2's for 15 years now, and currently own a heavily modded (by me) '91 turbo. A few months ago I drove by a similar 2 in my neighborhood, a lowered '93 sunroof turbo on jdm rims, on my usual route home. One day I saw the garage door open, and stopped in to chat with the fellow car dude, who was inside wrenching on a couple of swapped Civics. He was extremely knowledgeable about all kinds of cars, and mentioned he had done a few Mr2 motor swaps (his had the jdm only Gen. III). About an hour into our conversation, I mentioned I had recently acquired an Is-F. He gave me the blank look, then asked "Oh, is that the one with the 3.5 liter six in it?"

Happens to all of us I'm sure. I usually just tell people I have the 350 F sport, when they ask 250 or 350. It just causes too much trouble when you say F. Then you have to follow up with further explanation on why it's different. And you know while you're explaining all this, they're zoning off and not paying attention.
Either way, you're coming in at a good time. Our ECUs are finally unlocked and tunes galore by different vendors.

Two encounters recently come to mind:
I was on the 91 near Corona, CA, stuck in traffic about 20 MPH. I was in the #1 lane (aren't we always?), just ahead of me and to my right was an extremely clean white 2GIS. As I passed it I noticed the well dressed couple in their 30's looking at my car. When we were adjacent to each other the driver rolled down his window and gave me the gesture to roll mine down... "Nice ISF"!! and his girl was into it too it appeared.
Around the same time late last year I was picking up my little girl from school. Parked next to me was a well coifed young dude in a Camry (probably his Mom's) picking up what appeared to be his little sister. Same exact verbiage... "Nice ISF"!!
Keep in mind in each of these encounters the drivers did not appear to be 'Gearheads' or car enthusiasts of any kind. Reaffirms the old adage "Don't judge a book by it's cover"!

I ALWAYS experience this confusion. It's even worse when they get it mixed up during an oil change and forget the 2 to 3 extra quarts.
Hello from Sacramento (Elk Grove) as well!

That would be even worse to forget oil. Thanks and it appears there are more of us around than I realized.
