No need to feel foolish, just asking a few questions to get to the root of the problem.

One thing I noticed when I was under the car doing the ATF level procedure, condensation runs down the gearbox and has corroded one of the oil pan bolts on the gearbox. I noticed it the first day when I put the car in the air and it was pissing on me (a lot) while I was removing the undertray for the transmission...not fun.

yeah was planning on having ATF procedure done at 100k after reading your comments in that transmission failure thread. will look for that oil pan bolt at the same time, thanks for mentioning it.
