Default Asphalt overspray on the F mostly saved with detail

Well today we got a nice surprise at the shop when I came out to find the parking lot being asphalt coated (with no notice) and the spray trucks pressure hose burst approximately 5 feet in front of our F. The hot coating got on our paint from tail lights to hood even a spot or two on the new BC forged wheels. We had swapped out the rear wheels to the 18" kosei's while we test alignment changes with the 265 TOYO setup so thankfully they were not installed. The koseis may not be fixable as the paint reducer we had to use to get the coating off also had an impact on the clear of these wheels. I actually came out to find (the dude pictured) trying to rub off the asphalt with a paper towel and some water. In any case, the local detail shop was able to act fast and get as much off as possible. Still a few lingering pieces on the tail lights and bumper crevices.

that layer of road film likely helped keeping it from sticking a bit. Did the paving company pay for the detail at least?

Omg I would be highly pissed off. I have heard in the past that gojo, the cream not the with pumice obviously, works well with breaking down and removing the asphalt.

I have heard WD40 works but I haven't had much luck with it, my wife has some oil on her rocker panels and I spray it with WD40 and let it soak for 15min before I wash it. It's getting better but it's not the answer that's for sure.

Gasoline take the asphalt off easily but you have to get your F waxed after that.

Kerosine also breaks it down damn near immediately but I don't know how it will affect the paint.

wd40 was tried, kerosene and diesel fuel; are too harsh on the paint. Paint reducer was the last of 5 compounds used. The guys were attaching the side of the building they botched today and were really unable to get it off the brick mortar with a pressure washer and wire brushes.
Last pics below were after detail, but there are still lots of spots in the tight areas.

Heavy duty degreaser with a warm water pressure washer...

You'll need to rewax after...

Where do I send my invoice to? :-)

Jeez... whatever you spend to make it right, I hope the paving company is going to take care of you. Good luck!

I hate that this happened to you. I would take your car to the owner of the asphalt company and have them take care of removing the contaminate from your paint. That's why they have insurance. It may not have been their fault that the hose failed, but they are responsible for the consequences that came from it.

Good luck and keep us updated.
