Stock exhaust diameter? DIY muffler delete pending

1 Attachment(s)
I am planning on doing a DiY muffler delete, and was wondering what the stock exhaust diameter is right at the last hanger before the y-pipe. Does anyone know the size of the piping at the exact location indicated in the pic? Any help would be appreciated.

For the record, that's not my exhaust in the picture or I would already have my answer lol

I don't have that section anymore. However, I still have my resonator and I just went out to the garage to measure the ID. What I measured is 3 ⁱ /₂" inlet & 2 ⁵/₈" outlet. So I would assume that ID of that section of pipe is the same as the resonator outlet.

(Not my pict either)

the IS-F drones terribly between 2-3000rpm without the stock muffler. Sounds good at WOT though

Lou,

do you know what size the stock muffler outlets are?

flowrider 01-06-15 03:04 PM

^^^^Sorry I don't have those any more. Will probably have access to a stock set in the next month or so, but that's too late for you. But, I'm curious, why would that dimension be important to you?

He probably wants to piece together a slip fit muffler delete pipe to connect to the rear y split where he'll cut it a the point he is needing the dimension of.

^^^^Don't think so, he's asking the size of the muffler outlet pipes:confused:

Haha I am asking exactly what Lou said.. I was curious because I saw in QCisf's build thread that he put magnaflow 3.5 tips on his stock mufflers but there is no mention of what the inlet of those tips are.

I wasn't clear. I think he wants to eliminate the single center resonator/muffler, not the two rear mufflers.

flowrider 01-07-15 12:46 PM

^^^^We're all guessing here:uh: Can't be that, because I gave him the inlet/outlet dimensions of the resonator. Why don't we wait for him to specify?

Guess no one else realizes..

The Original Poster #1 / thread starter is "Spooled"

and "imp0rted1" is the one asking for exhaust tip outlet sizes ;) ;)

I want to say these are the tips, so 2.25 in. 3.5 in outlet, 4.5 in length

I was asking about the diameter of the pipe at the exact location in which the arrow is pointing. I was planning on cutting the muffler section, right at the area indicated in the original post, and welding a turndown so the exhaust isn't pointing directly towards to read diff.

I do not care to know the size of the stock muffler tips lol

LoL
I neglected to read your post and I was responding to another member.

Anyhow, I plan on deleting my mufflers and 2nd cat this week and I will have my exhaust shop do something about that flat part of the axleback. Hope I gain some power if any but looking for a good shift in the overall sound. Stock is too quiet for me
