Anyone running Bridgestone RE 11s ? I need tires. Thanks.

corndogger 11-12-14 02:26 PM

Yes! Only have a few thousand miles on them and love them. I Stuck with the stock sizes. They have way more grip than the stock potenzas. It feels like a different car with the way it grips cornering and accelerating. Not sure on how they will wear yet, but even if they don't last as long as other tires could, they are worth it. I bought them from tirerack last year because they were only like $195 each for the fronts and rears. Looks like they have increased in price since then.

The top 2 tires for performance ( on the whole ) for the ISF are going to be the Michelin Pilot Super Sports and the Bridgestone RE11. A few are running the upsizes in the S04 pole position. I have had the RE050As and the PSS and I like the PSS but after a couple of track days, 3 k miles, and the cooler temps in AZ ,that allow the motor to go full power , ( high temps retard timing and power output ) I can feel the rear starting to spin if I launch really hard in manual/sport. I am tempted to try the RE11s next time since I am one of the few who does regular track days. The next step is to just get a set of track wheels and tires. I want to go all the time !!! In the end for 2k you can have a new set of light weight wheels and a set of DOT slicks !!!

The RE11s and PSS are even used by the Porsche Club of America. Some swear by the PSS and some by the RE11s. Seems like the PSS is better for all around performance. The RE11 is a bit more track focused ( stiffer sidewall, wear faster, and less wet grip). If you do track days frequently do RE11. If you want street and track performance all around PSS hand down !! Im sure even the tire rack reviews will say the same

Thanks great info. I track the car also .Leaning to the RE 11s.

I don't think they make OEM sizes in the RE-11's anymore.

scamsel 11-18-14 10:23 AM

fwiw, the re11's are slightly heavier than equivalent PSS's. at least on the upsized 245/3519 and 275/3019 the pss's are 3.2lbs lighter per tire in the rear and 4.8lbs per tire up front vs the re11's

probably not such a big deal.

Ill see how they work on the track. tommorow re 11

I8ABMR 11-25-14 01:24 PM

in all honesty I think I am leaning towards trying the RE11s after the PSS. I am hating the way the rears can spin slightly when I launch hard from a stop light. 2 track days and they are not doing well on launch. My RE050as were fine down to the end on launch. NO SPIN.

BS ISF 11-25-14 01:35 PM

fwiw, I am running RE-11's stock size front and 275/30 rears. RE-11's do need some extra heat in them before you really get full use of the tire. more so than any other tire I have had on my isf. this is also a common reference on other model cars as well but once warm they do great.
