He comes back and tell me “we been doing this for years trust me we know”. I actually called Lexus to see what comes back for the vin that the diff came off of and let’s see if it’s really a LSD diff.
LMAO, I guess we'll find out soon enough!

Have them take the red cover off and take a picture of the internals if possible, very easy to see if its a torsen or not...

Torsen diff:

You would think the guy would have taken the pics with the cap off though to prove it’s a LSD. I messaged him asking.....no response.

If you try searching for a 2018+ IS350 F-Sport diff from a wrecked car, those will include a Torsen LSD as standard (unlike the RC350 F-Sport which had the Torsen LSD as an available option).

The VIN won't tell you if it has a Torsen diff in TIS. Maybe EPC has it. Only the build sticker has that information directly on the car. Supra owners learned about this a long time ago. See the red boxes below, decode at the link on the bottom.

IS F

Supra with LSD from the factory:

What TIS shows about the wrecked car in this thread - notice there is nothing about the diff:

Look here to decode Toyota from a differential perspective - only partially applies to solving the Torsen question:
http://www.rallyrace.net/docs/toyota_diff_id.html

Finding a solid resource for decoding later model diffs is pretty elusive. Apparently not many people - except Tacoma and Tundra owners - are interested in decoding the Toyota cypher.

Does anyone know how to get the axles out of the diff? Without removing the wheel hub? I’ve seen people say take a pry bar to it but where? I can’t get any leverage with the pry bar. I’ve got everything broken loose but can’t find a way to get the axles out of the diff

Two pry bars side by side between the diff and the axle. It's pretty stiff the first time out.

There’s barely any surface area on the axle to catch the pry bar for leverage.

You didn’t remove anything else? Just the diff mounting bolts and prying out the axles?

It's not a task for the faint of heart. I hope he was successful.

This is just too weird. It seems like this is always what happens - someone gets to the point of installation, then 'poof' they're gone. This thread is cursed I think.
