Lexus IS F paddle shifters
Is anyone aware of a steering wheel where the paddles are attached to the wheel rather the steering column? I would prefer the paddles move as I turn the car rather than stay still.
Does anyone know why lexus would build the wheel and paddles the way they did? Big brain fart alert: I meant to say the total opposite in my post. Sorry, I'd prefer if the paddles didnt rotate with the wheel. (I have no idea how this post ended up here, I was in the isf forum when I opened up a new post) |
What yours aren't attached to your steering wheel?

The paddles are attached to the steering wheel and do turn with the steering wheel. I don't know what you're talking about.

Compthis, my IS250 has its paddles attached to the steering wheel. I'm willing to trade it for your IS-F with its paddles attached to the column.

there are aftermarket kits that support that but it requires an aftermarket HUB assembly which i dont think an OEM wheel can bolt to so you would have to use an aftermarket steering wheel. Is it worth it? If you are on the track frequently then it May be worth it because its hard to upshift coming out of a hard turn/down shift into a turn. Having stationary paddle shifters is very convenient. It wont change transmission shift time though which is where it MAY NOT be worth it

I sometimes just bump the gear shifter if the paddle shifter is in an awkward position during a turn.
|
that's why I use the shifter from 1st to 2nd when I'm turning.
|
Just use the shifter to go through gears when you go through a turn....
|
I never had a problem shifting with paddle shifters when turning, just have to get used to it, see how Rally pros are doing it and do the same.
