Default Smart Card Key Question

So I had a slight catastrophe yesterday resulting in the image below. I don't like having just one key, so I'll be ordering a replacement. This certainly isn't the next chunk of cash I was wanting to put towards the car.

I'm thinking about getting one of the card keys since it would be nice to keep it in my wallet and would certainly prevent a recurrence of yesterday's disaster. Specifically, this: http://is.sewellparts.com/accessorie...2010/1859.html

I'm curious though, how bulky is the card key? I'm assuming it is actually intended to be carried in a wallet, but I carry a very slim wallet and I'm sure I'd have to take some unnecessary cards out to accommodate for this thing. From the images and description I don't have a good idea of the dimensions. How thick is it compared to a normal credit card, or a smart card / CAC you would use with a computer? About 3x maybe? The images make it look pretty thick, but then again, they are very close-up.

I think I just found the answer to my question, assuming the F-logo key is the same as the other Lexus card keys: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...ard-key-4.html

I should have searched more than just the IS-F forum before posting!

I've been wanting to buy one too. But I think by the time you buy it and program it, it is pretty costly. But if I ever have to replace one of my keys. Then definitely the key card.

Yea, I just looked, and its about $45 more than the standard IS key card. Add in the physical key, which is sold separately, and it comes to over $300 shipped... I don't have a Lexus dealership nearby so I'll also need to double-check that Toyota can program this before ordering.

If I don't get this I may go the other extreme and get a cheap non-F-branded standard fob and save around $200.

Looks like it's at least 1/4" thick in the photo, a bit chubby for a wallet

It is extremely bulky, about 3 credit cards stacked.. I can get a photo of them side to side for comparison but I currently don't carry my credit card key around anymore because it creases my wallet and well, my wallet costs way more than the key itself. lol

Here's a vid of Fapout's old ISF, he shows the smart key in the beginning. I want one so bad but can't justify the ridiculous price tag of actually buying one and having it programmed. Not to mention you can't put your house keys on it

3 card thickness isn't too bad. I guess it'd be slightly smaller than a PCMCIA card. I have at least three cards in my wallet that I really don't need to carry with me. I was actually worried it might be thicker than that. I also rarely need to take my house keys, and it'd be nice to have one less thing in the wallet.

300 bux plus programming is still quite a bit though...

I bought a new one off of a member here, tried getting it programmed and it wouldn't work. After getting some clarification from Sewell, the 2008 F part number is different from the 2009+. It is the size of a credit card, but a lot heavier. Imagine stacking 3-5 credit cards together and that's the width of the card. If you're used to carrying around a slim wallet (ID, 3 credit cards), you're not going to like carrying this in your wallet since it'll weight the same as your current wallet and make it a bit bulkier.
