So I did an oil change today and I only had about 8.5 quarts of old oil. I'm not concerned about the consumption but I am going to keep an eye on it because the last time I checked the oil level it was pretty good. however I never had a low engine oil light come on. How low does it have to be to come on?

 

i got 9 quarts out. recently on my old oil change, and put in 9.5..according to my dip stick im a little over the max.
