Default At the muffler shop waiting...

So I've searched and searched and really haven't found I'm looking for. So I'm just gonna do it. I'm removing the secondary cats and mid muffler. Welding in a x-pipe and mandrel bent 2.5" to the oem mufflers. I'm sure someone has done this. Does anyone know if the oem mufflers are restrictive. I'm doing this mainly to free up the exhaust. Don't want it much louder.

i have headers wich eliminates the primary cats , secondary cats removed , and a joe z intake tube thats it! and i can tell you the oem mufflers are not restrictive at all imo, ive reaced several F's with teh same bolt ons but they add up the aftermarket muffler , i dont like them because theyre loud!! and when we race most of the time i win or we are dead even, I dont have drag tires or anything like that and last week managed to pull a 12.6@116mph with 1.99 in the 60's and here the humidity is sky high and the temp is in the 90's.

Hey Lou. I did see your setup but I have no resonators on mine now. It doesn't sound much louder than stock right. Just slight more aggressive. And not sure about the gains either. This is how is should've come from factory.

It's was 420. They cut right before the secondary cats so factory flanges are still in place.

Looks good, but getting rid of the factory resonator for an x-pipe will do nothing for performance.

I guess it just makes it sound better. I was shooting for a more true dual exhaust I guess.

For $300 more you could have a used borla cat back. True dual exhaust.

Cool. I would take off the mufflers and put straight pipes with flanges to complete the exhaust. Using flanges, you could easily cycle between an aggressive non-muffled exhaust and a stock sound.

I've heard the straight pipes and its definitely not for me. I'm happy with the setup.

And Used borlas are hard to find too.

Can't say as I agree with that statement. Look at my dynos posted on my referenced thread.

None yet. I'm pretty sure the video won't do it justice. The change is really subtle but not enough for the camera. I'll try though. I think the price was very fair for all the work as well. Took them about 3 hrs.
