Default Steering wheel controls & paddle shifters not working

Car is an 08 IS-F. Several weeks ago, the left side steering wheel controls (volume, mode) stopped working. Didn't worry about it too much and it was something I could easily live with. Yesterday, the right side steering wheel controls and also the paddle shifters stopped working. I'm wondering if it could be something simple like maybe a fuse or if the steering column is gonna have to come apart...
Wanted to get some insight before I took the car to the Toyota dealership today.

Never heard of this happening before.. you may be right about a busted fuse or maybe a loose connection somewhere.

It might even just be pinched wiring or a lose connection. But I don't know what would be the best way for you to figure out the root cause.

But if my paddles stopped working, I'd personally drive straight to the dealer.

Really interesting how things went out at different times.....and not all of it at the same time. That sounds like a gremlin.....Im thinking a pinched wire or a short somewhere.....

or....someone swapped out a sport steering wheel before selling the car, and did a bad job on the transfer of controls going back to stock.

Stereo buttons break sometimes, as well as faded symbols - not that uncommon.

I would follow the tutorial on switching the steering wheel and check the connections, before sending it in for repair...unless its covered by warranty....if not at least to just check the connections.

Here:

My first though would be either a bad connection or failed / damaged squib (clock spring). Everything in the steering wheel runs through the squib, that's its purpose.

Interested to know what the verdict is in case this happens to me. I had the thought today about how lost I would be if my steering wheel volume controls went out, let-alone the paddles.

The Toyota dealership said its the clock spring but said its covered under the powertrain warranty. So car is headed to Houston to the Lexus dealership. Hopefully they don't try and void my warranty because of the aftermarket intake. Toyota said it shouldn't be an issue though

Good to hear that it's covered under the warranty.

Anyone have experience with Lexus and their warranty ? Wondering if they will try to void the powertrain warranty due to the aftermarket intake

How far are you from Houston? Are you taking it there or is Toyota doing that for you? That would be some awesome cusmer service if they are hauling it there for you.
