Road Trip to Pike's Peak/Bonneville/Woodward
Last year a good friend of mine, Cody, and I started talking about all of the automotive events on our bucket list. After looking at the dates of some of them, we knew we had to try to group a couple together and go knock a few out. Once I placed the order for my F in February, we started planning a road trip across the country with two key automotive events in mind, Speed Week at the Bonneville Salt Flats and the Woodward Dream Cruise in the Detroit area.
With the unfortunate fires that took place in Colorado a couple months ago, we heard that the Pike's Peak Hill Climb would be rescheduled to a later date. Little did we know, it would end up being at the EXACT time we were driving through Colorado Springs on our way to Bonneville. Once we found that out, we knew we had to add it to our trip. With a suggestion from zmw, we planned the set the route and were ready to roll!

Cody and I left the Northern KY/Cincinnati, OH area earlier this morning to start our manventure to Pike's Peak Hill Climb (August 12), Speed Week (August 14-15), and the Woodward Dream Cruise (August 18).
Start: 9am, 8/9/12 Union, KY
Just horsing around while Cody gets some seat time (I plan to wear this mask during the Dream Cruise):
Saw this beast at the rest stop before getting to St Louis:
As we were entering St. Louis, we decided to hop off the highway try to take a look at the Arch. We ended up going down a shady looking street, but found a cool parking garage to take some pictures in front of:
Seems legit:
Had to run out into the street when the coast was clear to get a quick shot on this one for proof we were at the Arch:
With me having a strong love of BBQ and today being my birthday , we decided to end our first day in Kansas City, MO to chow down on some of the best!
Just a quick shot of Kansas City as we were heading back to the hotel:
So far we've driven 600 miles and have been able to average 25.7mpg over the first 2 tanks of gas. We've had a little fun here and there, but have mostly kept the apexi throttle controller in Eco Mode 1 (white).
I'll be updating the thread with pictures as our trip progresses.
Tomorrow we will be rolling in to Colorado Spring, CO and are hoping to make it to the Pike's Peak Fan Fest!

Dude...this is an awesome idea. I look forward to all your pics and shenanigans! Drive safe!
I wish the SoCal IS F guys can put something like this together...I think it would be awesome to cruise up north to SF together and take PCH all the way up!
