Default Gear whine sound from engine accessories

08 MM ISF here, 36k miles, bought 6k miles ago, has had this sound since I purchased it.

Sound is intermittent and I believe it is tied to the a/c.
It sounds like gear whine under acceleration, and I am asking the forum if the sound is normal or not. Obviously it sounds peculiar enough that I notice it, but then again I've never driven another ISF or even IS for that matter.

When I've had similar noises in other, lesser automobiles, it was an idler pully bearing and pully needed replacement.

Just need opinions from other F owners if this extraneous engine sound is normal from the accessory systems, or should I trek the hour to a dealer for warranty work. Thanks in Advance.

I have not experienced any unusual sound with the AC system in the 2012. Others need to comment on the earlier models.

It sounds like warranty work to me.

The only noise I have ever had between my 06' IS250 and 08' IS F is a squeak from the center vent.

I think I know what you mean. I have a similar noise (whine) on heavy acceleration. It's been there from the time I test drove the car. I went with a friend who owned an ISF and I asked him if his did the same. He said yes so I just ignore it. It almost sounds supercharger like but not as loud.

^^^THIS!

Regarding "not as loud", I haven't heard it outside of the car, but I think since I can hear it inside with
windows up, it must sound loud and cheap outside.

Gosh i hope it's correctable, it's an unacceptable oversight if normal, at least that's what I tell myself.

It's definitely one of the engine accessories, a/c, alt, etc, because it's not constant
and I've never heard engine internals sound this way.

Wasn't as prominent in the winter. Periodic at best. Now I hear it daily.

Thing is, I've never dealt with a dealership before, or anyone automotive who was satisfactorily professional/competent for that matter.
I hope they can even discern what I'm talking about, and resolve it.

It totally sounds like a supercharger. At high rpm it sounds like an electric drill.

I'm in SC, and the car scene here is weak, hoping the dealer can & will address this and not just dismiss me;
especially since I haven't and won't likely spend money there.
Does this effect service and attentiveness?

Upon what service time requirement will I be given a loaner?

Thanks for any reply Beautiful Car Owners!

@ RCB, I have console/nav, etc. creaks, driving me crazy.
Hesitating taking it in because I can't even pinpoint them all,
and dvd override kit was installed when I got it. Will they still fix?
My entire drivers door-seal shifts over rough pavement and
sounds like the door is flappin'. Mount bolts are solid, no wrecks, etc. Argh...

that creak noise is from the gauge cluster area or the black trim bezel (if that's what u want to call it, the piece that's held in by two plastic clip screws). you can tell if its that by pushing up on the piece when ur driving around and its creaking, the creaking will go away if u push up on it

I fixed it by sticking some foam insulation tape from lowes to the too edges of it.

Does the sound you are hearing sound like a power steering pump going bad?

Yes similar sound but no correlation with steering input.

It's the oil pump in the gearbox. Mine didn't start to make a noticeable sound until about 45k miles, but under certain conditions I hear it - usually low speed (15 - 25 mph) going uphill. But it sounds like a power steering pump running a little low on fluid.
