There is a gas station in my town that sell Cam 1and 2 100 octane and 110 octane....
Has anyone used 100 or 110 octane in their F?
wanted some feedback.. will it hurt engine/ noticeable increase in performance???
Went thru old posts and haven't seen any relating
Thanks

2008 red IS-F
tint, hid fogs, calibre k-40 radar, SRT intake (should I switch to Joe Z)???
coming soon- smoked tailights, carbon fiber roof spoiler, PPE headers.

My .02 cents. You only raise octane to prevent engine knock. Using higher rated octane fuel other than to prevent engine knocking will not give your engine more power.

Racing fuel wil probably hurt the 02 sensors.

I have not experienced engine knocking using 92 octane premium gas.

I use VP MS109 and its amazing! Havent had a problem and it makes a noticeable difference.

Unless your running a FI setup, I wouldn't bother with race gas. But if your planning to go turbo or nitrous, MS109 is the way to go. My car rarely tastes pump gas, but when it does I definitely notice the difference.

Why do you use 109 all the time? it makes no power difference since I dynoed with and without.

I've never even heard of vp ms109...looks interesting. So your saying you only fuel with that? Where do you get this fuel at?

My ISF isnt my daily driver. It usually gets driven when its race time or im about to go mess up the town. Though you saw no difference with the fuel, the gains have been noticeable to me and others who swear by it.

We have a station that is local.

I would say me car has been on ms109 75% of the last 8-9 months. Its not exactly economical though.

Can you quantify these gains? Or are you talking about seat-of-the-pants dyno?

I have never seen a car ECU that allowed people to take advantage of race fuel in it's OEM configuration.

I used to use this kind of fuel at the race track on my motorcycle, besides the fact that it smells different and it leaves a white powder residue on the exhaust tips, I really never noticed any advantage to using it. Not sure how it can make a difference in a street car. It sure did put a dent in my wallet...

exactly, unless your modifying the car two have more hp its a waste of money. It is used to keep the engine from detonating and it doesnt give you more power, it allows you to run more power without blowing the motor. I used 116 race gas when i go to the track, but im boosted with a 100 shot of nitrous.

Using fuel above 94 octane is a waste in a car with a stock tune.
In Kalifornia where you can only buy 91 octane I notice a little bit better throttle response when mixing 100 with 91 to an average around 94. The benefit is because the cars ECU has maps for a range of octanes, however once you get outside of those map ranges there is no increased benefit.

On a few occasions I've had to add some 100+ unleaded fuel in my tank at the drag strip because I was cutting too close for comfort fuel level wise and every time I did that my times got worse. I'd stay away from anything over 93 octane unless you enjoy the exhaust smell with it.

the lighter wallet is what makes you go faster

but in serious I doubt you can feel any difference running 100 octane

I havent done any test, but I can find many on youtube if you like. The main reason that ms109 makes more power is the oxygen level. Octane alone will not make a noticeable difference.
