Default Resale values IS-F

I know this in an odd question
I am looking at a 2007 ls460 and a 2008 IS-F both have close to 60k miles and both are priced at about $34.000
I usually only keep cars for a couple years
My question is which vehicle will hold it's value over the next 2-3 years at approx 12,000 miles per year
What do you think the value for each will be in 2-3 years
I have already had 2 GS's ans an SC wanted to stay in the lexus family with something else

I would imagine a IS-F hold more value since they are rarer. There are tons of LS460s.

I would say similar because people start to pass on performance vehicles with high mileage, which will offset the limited production.

34k is a good price for an F even with 60k miles on it. I have been looking for a couple months and finally just got an 08 with 30k miles for $40k, it is certified with 3 yr warranty so that prob raised the prive

The LS will be completely redesigned as of October so it will take a substantial hit. It is also a much more common car. Although the ISF will be changing in 2014/2015 it will still hold its value much better IMHO.

You can go to edmunds.com and look up the True Cost to Own. There is a row for depreciation per year.

2007 LS 460
current $30,129 (doesn't count options)
year 1 $25,907
year 2 $22,204 ($7,925 depreciation)
year 3 $18,946 ($11,183 depreciation)

2008 IS-F
current $33,675
year 1 $29,580
year 2 $25,987 ($7,688 depreciation)
year 3 $22,824 ($10,851 depreciation)

So the depreciation is about the same, and if you adjust the current value of each car for options (you already said $34k), the expected value will be about the same as well.

Both of these are very good counter points. Just because of how rare they are, my money is on the ISF depreciating less.

Great thread... here's some insight from my situation...I bought my 2008 ISF in May 2011. It's May 2012 now, and in the year I've owned it I've put 8K miles on it.
Compared it to other 2008 F's...and it's selling for around the same price. Since production is limited, it will hold its value very well.

Also consider that there are barely 100 used ISF's selling in the entire nation on cars.com... I usually use this as a gauge to see how resale value will be ---> Low Supply + High Demand = Higher Value!
