Default Another reason why next gen F must be 450hp or better to stay competitive

This is another reason why next F must have 450hp or better C63, RS5 the new twin turbo M3 and now the new Dodge SRT line up which includes four car with some nice hp and tq numbers all of them producing 470hp, base price for them between 43k and 45k SRT8 Challenger 470Hp/ 468tq, SRT8 Jeep 470hp/ 470tq this updated truck is very nice looking here pics of SRT 8 Charger and SRT8 300C

Super Bee is an understatement with those numbers in the Charger! But I agree, the next gen IS F needs to definitely stay competitive. Losing some weight and increasing hp/torque should make it an even greater beast on the roads.

While I agree and would love to see an increase in power and performance, I am very pleased with the reliabilty of our cars compared to all of the models listed above. I would settle for a means to tune the current F models out now

Toyota have very good twin turbo history but is turbo good enough for a luxury brand. If they cannot get 470 bhp with mpg they could give up

All they would have to do is remove weight from the F. If I remember right, those Chryslers/Dodge's above are around 4300lbs (correct me if I am wrong), and you can't fight Physics.

I wouldn't get too caught up in "horsepower" numbers as it is a derived number from the torque reading and rpm at a certain time. The differential and transmission gearing will have a lot to do with things as well.

If we can see a nice flat and fat torque line that would be great, maybe around 450ft/lb of torque all the way from 3500 to around 7000 would be awesome.

Hard to remove weight and still keep the luxury up in this price bracket, I think but I agree they will need to bring power figures up to be competitive with some of the new stuff coming through.

I'm not hung up on HP figures as long as the performance relative to the class remains competitive. Is the IS F due for a major refresh soon? I haven't kept up on the news.

They wont do either that's why Im pretty much done with the F. Not to mention its billed as a race car but don't ever take it to the track and "abuse" it. Ive been drooling over the gtr for too long now....

You should have seen the market when the F first came out in 2008.....we couldn't even get an intake. Now we have several intake, header, suspension, and exhaust options and IS-F's running in the 11's

Seems like most companies are going smaller displacement, and forced induction for fuel economy. I agree with some of the other members, in that the reliability to performance ratio is something to consider. What about dropping a couple hundred pounds with a lighter motor, twin turbos, similiar performance, improved fuel economy and reliability?

They need to have a lot of HP/TQ because of their weight, they are muscle cars they weight like hell, they need to have a 6.2 L engine so they could get 4.6 sec from 0-60 and our IS-F with 416hp and 5.0L get those numbers. Those are not comparison for our car, also what about reliability and MPG they are horrible in those categories. Come on.

When I bought the F horsepower was not even top 3. People get caught up in HP, I bought it for the look, feel, rareness, features. HP is more of a bragging right and people barley push the car past a certain speed.

I understand the HP, 0-60 and 1/4 mile but there's more to it than that. Even if the M3 was 30 more HP or .2 sec faster I still would have gotten the ISF for everything else.
