I think many many people are holding on to that one thread that was posted and just keep repeating the same thing over and over again. Spacers are used on track cars all the time. Even race cars !! The bottom line is a quality part installed the correct way will be safe.

Lol you guys need to calm down. I never said spacers are a problem. I've ran them (both kinds) on every car I've modified. All I said was that there was MORE of a chance of the ones with built in studs failing than ones without. And yes, this logic does make sense.

This is the truth.

What is your explanation for this? I'm not trying to argue but I've ran both and felt much more confident with bolt on spacers. How is there a chance of failure if the spacer is properly bolted/torqued to the hub?

Well with that logic, putting wheels on your car "have the chance to fail since you are relying on the 5 nuts holding the wheel to the spacer not to come loose."

This is absolutely correct. If the lug nuts are not properly torqued, they could come loose while driving and the wheel could come off. This is what I am saying about the built-in spacers. They inherently have the CHANCE of failure since they rely on another variable - proper torquing of the nuts.

Do you and I have to worry about this? Obviously not since we do everything ourselves and know that we took the appropriate steps to make sure the spacers will not fail. But, since many people don't have the proper knowledge and know-how, they rely on shops to do the work [who themselves may not know what the hell they are doing with spacers].

I agree, that is the downside of spacers is that another variable is added.. however thats the risk that is taken with spacers and if the user does not properly torque down the nuts to the spacer then issues can arise.

With that being said, I like bolt on spacers and I make sure I do multiple passes when torquing the nuts on the spacers.
