Hey, Unfortunately, I don't think they can really, "Look" for anything unless you have an issue with the car, and if you did that issue is what you would tell them to fix.

I would just have them put it on the diagnostic, OBD2 and make sure all is well.

I would turn down radio and see if there any any rattles, or creaks, or strange engine noises, or look for any rubber bushings that could be starting to crack, as well as the rubber moulding around the doors, or trunk?

Good luck

If you plan on keeping the car. The extended warranty is very cheap insurance.

Basically it would pay for about one repair.

I totally agree. These cars are not fun w/o warranty. Every thing costs like 2-3k to replace

Make sure the water pump is good, because that will cost you alot, and I know some have had issues.

Water Pump should fall under the 6yr / 70K mile powertrain warranty..

Since the water pump failure has been brought up in this thread I'll ask a question. What has been the typical mileage/time frame for failure?

I was wondering the approximate mileage of water pump failure reported by CL members. Is this around 30,000 miles, 60,000 miles, etc. I am pretty new here on CL so I have not seen all the reported incidents.

There's no consistent number. Some were early around 30,000, mine was a little over 62,000. The rest have been somewhere in between. So, just keep an eye on it, and when it goes, get it replaced before the engine runs dry or the warranty expires.
