I understand the allure of manual tranny there something visceral about getting shift just right when your driving down your favorite stretch of road a feeling of accomplishment I get it, I'm 48 and have always owned manual cars from my previous American muscle cars to Imports why my first auto was IS350 I had before getting my F. But not everyone feel same way also there is lot more skill involved when driving manual tranny, being able to extract every ounce of performance out of that manual trans takes time and practice, and lets face less and less cars are being produce that come stick as standard, you now have to order stick car for certain models and with auto's being what most people learn to drive they stick with whats most comfortable.

With advent of such great automatic transmission such as our IS-F has and BMW's DCT and yes it's automatic transmission because you have only two pedals, the car shifts AUTOMATICALLY hence its an automatic transmission. a manual will not shift AUTOMATICALLY, so its an AUTOMATIC transmission, regardless of how many clutches it has, that for any DCT fanboys out there lol, PDK, SMG or any other acronym you want use such as *** Automatic Servo Selector there all pretty good Automatic transmission that can produce some of the better quality of manual with out draw backs.

And as far as pure performance is concern you just can't beat these new transmission, curiously on the lower end and midrange luxury sport cars models you always here the same compliant from these experts (yea right) about how they hate these FLOPPY paddle shifter I cant stand this term that was coined by the boys at Top Gear and now every automotive journalist has jump on ban wagon using this phrase and it seems like they just say because every other objective non biased reporter makes the same noise, but when they are reviewing 200k plus supercar or now 400k hyper cars that 99% of time come with you guest it some sort of automatic transmission DCT, PDK, SMG, ***, XYZ they usually write description that go something like this

The noise was absolutely glorious as I ripped thru lighting fast shift as if gods them self were shifting for me.

It was as if this car transmission could read my mine, the all new *** transmission can complete shift in 5x10^(-9) seconds.lol so you geeks out there how fast was that shift

You get my meaning they will praise most of these high end ultra expensive cars that use automatic transmission but at the same time criticize lower and midrange cars for using the same set up I don't get it well any way time to get off soap box.

Dave, I completely agree... I been thinking about the same thing recently with all these Manufacturer's (and Mag's) first bashing, then copying Lexus' 8 Speed!

I was sick of all the bashing of the ISF. As a previous M3 owner I can honestly say the isf is just as cool, if not cooler! I even heard one idiot say they didn't like the noise of the isf when it hits the certain rmp and the madness turns on. Peeps just jealous!

What kind of gas mileage are you getting with this setup and being on sport mode all the time? I live in SoCal and crusing on my entire tank, I'm getting around 15.5 and if I mash the gas a few times, I get around 13 tank avg. -I have no mods.
