Your posting in the IS F section....we use a completely different air filter than the IS350 and do not have an FSport option....

Just wondering if there is a better way to clean the aFe filter other than the cleaning kit they sell? I saw a thread on my.is about using oxy clean, anyone try that?

It does not need to be complicated - I use Simple Green Max - soak the filter in water and spray liberally with simple green, allow to sit for 15 minutes then rinse with some light water pressure (air flow way) then I soak in a bucket of water, until clean.......rinse and repeat..........then air dry.

I will also use a small toothbrush for any spots or areas that need a light scrubbing. The filter media is just cotton, so Tide detergent would probably work as well, just don't heat the filter to expedite the dry time or it will shrink. Also make sure that any cleaner you use will not damage the rubber seal portions.

The Simple Green lifts any embedded oil vapors and debris sufficiently.

I have two filters, so air dry is a few days.

A Toyota/ Lexus IS F air filter costs $59.00 from the dealer in Canada (there no aftermarket support for this air filter) - the aFe was $50.00 and washable to use over and over again.....nothing wrong with a disposable part......if you like spending money I suppose.

It's not reusable. Some people like to clean their filters instead of buying new ones each time.

I bought a $66k car. I'm good with genuine toyota parts.

If u had an lfa, would u run aftermarket filters? So why would u on the only other f in the lexus lineup?

I was going to go for this filter until I saw a post somewhere showing that the afe filter actually lost a bit of power so now I'm thinking of keeping it stock

For minute cost parts like this best to stick with factory parts.

Why bring added risk to the equation? Sewell's got to be selling these for dirt cheap.

This is a case of modding for modding's sake. It's a mistake Imo.
