gtrawr!. Specifically because it will give you the "rawr" factor. If you end up going that route, make sure the transmission is in good standing. Have it inspected.

If your coming from 996 I say GTR is probably better choice for you it's more performance oriented then IS-F. These are two totally different types of cars, one luxury sport sedan with very few aftermarket parts currently available for it and the other awd sport coupe purposely built to go after 911 turbo with tons of aftermarket support. So depending on what type of driving experience your looking for should guide you in making decision good luck both are great cars.

I'd get a GTR if I could afford it. The gearbox issues and servicing costs are down right scary though!

I've had both cars at the same time and they are indeed very different. Coming from the 996 the gtr most likely is more your speed. As long as you do some homework on the 09 that you are looking at and the service records and launch control updates have been done, there isnt much to worry about. The key on gtr service is be educated and not just pay dealer prices on items like brakes, fluids, etc.

Can't go wrong with either... still miss my F... but love my GTR too! I'd look for a 2010 though... based on the launch control issues.

I'm new here, but I see this question/comparison of the ISF and GTR often. Who started this? These two cars are not in the same league and shouldn't be used in the same sentence!

IF it's about performance, then the GTR. If you want a fast, luxurious, and 4 door sedan, the IS-F.

Same thinking for me before I bought IS-F. If you love sedan, luxury, then IS-F, if you fast, then GT-R

I LOVE my F but if I could afford the GTR then maybe. I chose my F cause I was getting tired of a heavy race clutch and needed some more chill but with *****.

Most people sell their F for a GTR. Why are you selling the 996? The F and GTR will give you a WOW factor, but obviously in very different areas.

If you really can't decide... Get both

Love my IS-F, but wish I had a GT-R lol. Although someone locally traded in their GT-R to get a new IS-F because they liked it better

This! I'll never understand why people want to compare a fast luxury sedan with a true sports car. It's almost like - Supra or F? Well, since I own both, I can say they're so different it's not an either or discussion. Same with the GTR - not an either or discussion. Figure out what you want to do, then ask which is appropriate for what you want to do.

If the goal is wow factor, don't waste your time with the F. It's not a wow car. The GTR is definitely a wow car in many ways - including the supercar maintenance bills.
