hey guys, sorry no updates. I havent had time to take it back to the dealership. Hopefully this week i can. Thank you all for the comments and support. I will definitely get through to them that this is a problem that NEEDS to be fixed under warranty. I feel very stupid driving around with 3 exhaust tips I'll let you all know what happens

This should be covered under warranty especially if the IS F was a certified pre-owned vehicle. Even if not, Lexus should cover it under the original warranty. For all of you who have not checked your tips I highly recommend that you do. I checked mine yesterday and found that the left lower tip had broken the three very small welds on the bottom and was loose. I had all four spot welded at my local muffler shop, then painted the welds so they won't rust. Much better and will not break. Cost was twenty dollars.

Did you have them welded from the outside or inside, and if from the inside, did you have to remove the bumber or exhaust to do the welding?

This is in response to BJM711's question (sorry but every time I tried to use your question as a quote the site asked me to log in again): I had them welded from on the inside of each tip (as in looking into the tip from the bumper) because there wasn't alot of room to do it around the outside of each tip. Plus, the original welds looked more like three tiny beads of solder separated by about 0.25 inches or so. The inside welds are much more substantial and there is one on top and bottom as well as each side. Also, the bumper does not have to be removed as there is a flange all the way around each tip. According to Rod my exhaust guy, the flange metal is very soft so one has to be careful when welding so that it does not get eaten away by the heat. If you want to remove the entire tip assembly either the mufflers have to be removed or the bumper in order to get to all of the fasteners. Also, there was zero issue with the surrounding paint or plastic bumper.

Exclamation

You can not see it in this pic...

But from memory, each stainless steel tip / sleeve is spotted welded in 4 places (2 on the top and 2 on the bottom) to a thinner sheet metal core, seen as the inside of each tip... We call this a dual walled tip (sorta).

Which is coated in a Black Paint like metarial..
(which will also start flaking after time passes)

Seems like after repeated drive cycles, heating & cooling and certain weather or road conditions, the spot welds are indeed Failing in some cases.
