New member needs help with price

Hey everyone, I've been hanging around awhile and finally decided to join. My girlfriend and I are currently looking at a 2009 white isf. We stopped in and looked it over tonight and it appears to be in almost perfect condition. The car is certified and has almost 39k on it. They are asking 48,850, this to me sounds a little steep but I wanted to get some input from you all. We are located in the Kansas City area, if that helps any. Thanks for the help guys and I look forward to becoming more active here!

I say it is steep at 39K. It is steep b/c of the certification, which is an inflated value by the dealer. Why would certification matter if the factory warranty is still in place? My advice is during negotiations; don't let them use the certification, as justification for the steep price. If you do buy it, make sure all the LSB (Lexus Service Bulletin) warranty work has been done to it before you reach 40K miles.

My educated guess would be $43K. I bought my 09 with 12K miles for $44K last August. Don't be afraid to look outside of the state.

Pootie sold his 09 with under 8k miles and some mods for 45k last month. Found a 2010 with 6k miles for 45k. Keep looking, dealers are trying to take advantage of lower numbers of 09 and 10 Fs, asking almost the same price as new 11s.

I live in Nebraska and bought my 08 Starfire Pearl IS-F with 27k on it out of state a few months ago and I paid almost 42k. I probably overpaid a little, but it seemed like Starfire Pearl was a little more hard to find and higher priced. It was totally worth it though as the car is clean and I smile everytime I drive it.

2010 Starfire Peal here too. I got mine a couple months ago for $50k and it had 9k miles on her. So yeah that price is a bit high. It took me a while to find this one but I'm really glad I did.

Have fun shopping

Rip off. Looking around your surrounding states as well. 39k miles is too much for a $50k asking price pretty much.

I bought my 2008 ISF brand new for $49,900 (62 MSRP) in mid 2009. Now granted, it was when they needed to get rid of their showroom floor model and Lexus had the biggest factory to dealer incentives on the ISF ever, but it goes to show you that $48,XXX for a used ISF with mileage is too steep. If it is in perfect shape and certified, I would say low 40s. A quick search on cars.com shows only one 2009 certified ISF for $48,595. If you can't get Lexus to come down decently on the price they quoted you, I would find a non-certified ISF elsewhere. The ISF is too reliable to be charging that much extra for a certification that you will very likely never need.

Is this the one at Superior Lexus North? That price is ridiculously high, but they actually come down quite a bit on their used cars. I think you could get it for about 42k as a CPO. But honestly I would look out of town as the supply is limited in KC. You could buy a lower mileage 08 without the CPO warranty but still in factory warranty for about 37k and then buy the extended warranty from the Toyota dealer in SW KS that everyone bring up on here and would still be less than 40k.

Thanks for the information guys. Glad to know I wasn't out of my mind thinking that price was a little high. Yes this is the one at Superior North. They have been really nice so far but they do seem to be overpriced. I really liked the drive of the 11 and I'm assuming the 09 would be just as fun. Thanks for the info guys!

I live in KC, just purchased a black obsidian ISF. Hit me up if you purchase it. I wouldn't pay that price, I bought my 2008 for $46k, had 15k miles. Mine was also certified. You will pay more for certified, but 3 yr 100k mile warranty is nice.

Yeah man I'd walk on that.

I bought Pootie's 09 with 7600 miles on it and it was a little less than 45k, thank you very much, LOL :eek2::D

dodo121 10-05-11 02:36 PM

that's way too much...i'd sell you my 2010 with 27k miles for that price...

poorbong 10-05-11 04:45 PM

wow....seems like most of you got your Fs at pretty low prices. I got my 09 SFP with 12k for 49k before taxes and papers. I thought that was a good deal. I guess i overpayed mind.....but i still love it so much :)
