Ive driven the 10' GTR and the tranny gets a headache at low speeds. In automatic it shifts too fast, I found myself in 5th gear at 40 regularly accelerating. Id definitely wait until the 12' is cheaper because the improved L/C and more power. But I warn you, a R35 as a daily driver will eventually become a pain in the ***.

I think I'm the rare one to say it but, don't buy it. We seem to be on opposite sides here though. You enjoyed the SMG M5 and I found the SMG M6 to be one of the worst cars I've ever owned (check that, it was definately the worst car I've ever owned). You thought the gear switch was "lightning quick"? I hit the paddle and went "One one thous" before it went into gear. And let's not forget the lovely "WTF Someone rear ended me!" then turn around and look stupid because there's nobody there. Anyways, I had a GTR for about 3 months and found it to be very difficult to live with as a daily driver. It's just too raw. It's a punishing ride and there's a lot of squeekage from brakes and things. The interior is really poor and cheap (the bolted on Nav thing was my favorite thing to laugh at). I guess it was just very sporty but not very luxurious. Seats were real nice though. As a weekend car, I gotta think it's a lot of fun but not to get to work in. Also, if you are into doing your own work on the car, I don't think this is one of those you can do much on. I may be wrong here but I think you need all kinds of specialized things for it. I know you need the extra seats so if you are still talking daily driver, perhaps the GranTurismo S or the Maz 4door or even the incredibly ugly Panamera.
Problems with the GT-S & Maz are just not enough 'performance'... but definitely nice luxury.
I'm pretty set on giving it a shot... and figure in 6 months... I can always move on... as that was my typical window... F was the first to break this routine since 2007!

One thing not mentioned is the amount of attention the GTR attracts, both on the road and anywhere you happen to park. If that is enjoyable to you then go it, if not most everyday will be a hassle.

IMO I'd be very weary of purchasing a used GT-R; Based on what I've seen, they are mostly driven by enthusiasts who either track it or push it very hard. It's not like buying used 911s that get babied and driven slowly by rich old men. ha ha. So the maintenance and reliability is a concern.
I'm in the same boat looking at the GTR or a 997 but leaning more towards the GTR because I love electronic toys and the porsche lacks features. No keyless start (super annoying when I have to check the mail and need the key) dated interior, the dash look like it came off a 90's mercedes

I almost considered it last year myself. But the stealership was offering me something pathetic like 32K for my IS-F and 10K over sticker for a slightly used GT-R. There is no way I was going to pay an additional 45K over my IS-F for a used GT-R. Not only that, side by side, the IS-F has IMO a better more mature look. The performance is undeniable but as 99% as my DD, I really don't need more HP. Just the occasional race here and there awd would be nice to have.

Love my 2012 GTR and easily a daily driver. I don't get the interior comments, as I love mine and all the electronic toys that come with it. The suspension is revised on the 12's and when put in comfort, it rides about the same as my traded 08 ISF. When left in automatic the tranny and drive train definitely make some noise at idle. The Bose system blows away the Mark Levinson. Lexus customer waiting area blows away Nissan waiting area, if thats important to you, but I have a great group of guys at my nissan dealer that are passionate about the GTR. (by the way GTR's under warranty, do get loaner cars) I did the Joe Z intake and exhaust and really miss that sound. I added a mid-pipe on the GTR and it sounds hella lot better than stock but I miss that Joe Z soundtrack......... However that feeling goes away, like finding a new super hot FREAKY girlfriend after just getting dumped, when both turbos kick in. Nothing like hitting 2nd gear and feeling the whole car jump just a little to the left as all 4 wheels spin for just a brief second. I figured most people around here wouldn't know or care what a GTR is, but I think I get more thumbs up and "can I take picture of your car" in the GTR than in my 09 Viper ACR. Which is the automotive equivalent of an F.U. with its splitter, canards, side pipes and hanglider sized rear spoiler. You cant go wrong if you keep your ISF or get the GTR, regardless there's always going to be something else you want to trade up to eventually. Every time I think I get close to the top of the automobile food chain, somebody starts making something that catches my eye. The worse thing I can do is sign up for a new forum and learn about whatever car I'm newly interested in, as that's how my disease starts.

no way in hell you're getting close to 30 mpg on highway. was this on the bonneville salt flats or something?
I'd like to go out to the flats sometime and run my F wide open. 
But seriously, I can routinely get at least 28mpg on the highway averaging 55mph. Here's a link showing 28.6 miles per gallon that includes hills in the Ozarks. I average 24 mpg on the daily trek to work where around 80% is freeway.https://www.clublexus.com/forums/is-...road-trip.html
First - I've never seen 30 mpg on the display or measured from my F.
And to the OP, I argued for the F in my earlier reply. But I'd get the GTR since you are able to get new cars so frequently. If you really like the GTR, you can keep it. Otherwise, you can just sell it and move on to some other car.

Don't get a GTR. It's ugly, huge like a boat, and unnecessarily overstyled. The reason that it comes with twin-turbo is because it is such a heavy pig. Regardless of the model, a Nissan is still a Nissan. I don't hate Nissan, in fact I love their cars (I also own a 350Z). Nissan make amazing performance cars, but GTR?.....just stupid, IMO. Don't even get me started about the maintenance on the damn thing.
Some could say that the performance is "amazing" for such an affordable price. In this case price is of concern, then get an Evo/Sti put another $15K in it and it still will be cheaper, reliable, and as fast if not faster than a GTR.
But if price is not of concern, put that money into a last gen. used 911 GT2, much classier, and it would be a much better cars. You can pull it up at valets, in front of casino, and people will be envy you.
So, hope this help.

Turbo factory cars are very efficient in making power. I rather have a TTV6 than a V8 or a TTV8 than a V10. I guess Porsche should stop putting twin turbos on their cars too.
