Default Built my own F ramps

I was trying to change the oil in my F without jacking it up. First, I tried driving up on a 2X6 under each front wheel. This was not high enough. Next, I went to Advanced Auto and tried their Blitz Rhino ramps. They wouldn't work. The ramps hit the front skirt before the tire came in contact with the ramp. Finally, I decided to build my own. I got the idea from the internet. Below is the link if you want to build some of your own. I used 2X8's and a nail gun. They are as strong as an ox. The F drove right up on them with ease and the ramps did not scoot. I used some scrap so they were essentially free to me. But you should be able to build them for under $50. Attached are some phone pics to give you an idea of what they look like.

Great idea! I'm going to make a hydraulic lift out of old pepsi cans and hair spray.

Fo real though. Awesome.

Nice job on the ramps! Make sure to put some wheel chocks on the back when the car is up there!

For guys who might want to buy a set of ramps that should work with lowered cars, check out http://www.raceramps.com/ . We got a set of these for my wife's extremely low M3 to put it onto our trailer and they have them in different lengths and angles (not sure what the IS-F would use). Not a cheap solution, but quality product in case you do want a pre-built solution.

cool idea. i used the rhino ramps (12000 lbs) and the oil pan was slightly out of my reach. i really don't want to go to a shop and have them scrape the front just to get it on the lift, so this solution might actually work out.

how'd the oil change go? i tried changing the oil over the weekend, but the 14mm nut would not budge at all on the oil pan. any tips on how to get it loosened up? we've tried wd-40, but patience ran really thin

Good job on building those.

I have the race ramps and I use them to get a floor jack under my cars. Great product that I use often.

Thanks! I did forget until right before I crawled underneath. My dad was helping me and he said "Wait! We forgot the most important thing! Scotch the wheels!"

It went real smooth once I finally got the car up on ramps. I used a 4 inch extension on my ratchet. This allowed me a little more leverage to really bear down on the drain plug. It was hard to budge, but I finally got it. I love the canister oil filter. If you slowly unscrew the filter, you won't spill a drop. And it's right there on bottom. No reaching around stuff to get to it.

My first ramps were like that except they were in two parts. One part was the ramp and one part was the block at the end. Used them for years until I got gifted a pair of real ramps.

I have used 2X8's in front of my Rhino Ramps to raise lower cars.

No problem. Just scroll down a little in this link. (Only I used 2X8's instead of 2X10's.) http://www.crossfireforum.org/forum/...car-ramps.html

nicely done. this is very common with people with lowered cars. i like the idea but im always leary of the wood shifting when driving up on it so i just stick with a floor jack.
