Thank goodness for the forum! I have been riding with the windows down a few days and heard this noise on a WOT manual shift for the first time. I am glad it is a belt/tensioner issue and not a transmission problem. As many have stated, the DAYCO is much cheaper and appears to be the manufacturer of the OEM part.

Holy crap! I literally thought this was tire slippage! Sounds more like a hiss to me. I swear I've heard this on both 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. I thought Michelin was genius for making a tire that hissed instead of screeched so as not to draw attention.

I agree that I would try the belt first. Gates Blue belts would be my choice if I go this route.

On another note, why would a belt slipping, once fixed, make shifts or anything else feel better?

Haha, yea, I thought it was bad-a$$ that I was barking the tires in 2nd and 3rd gear. Meanwhile, the casual observer on the street is like, "Geez man, I wish that douche would get his belt fixed. That screeech sounds horrible."

Still embracing it after 10k more miles... Iv figured out the perfect time to wiggle the steering wheel to make people think I'm countering loss of traction and having to input corrective steer (tire slippage) when shifting.

Mine is a hiss or a "sheeesh" sound. Not a screech at all. Really does sound more like a blow off valve.

Same here, it sounds almost the same as a stock blow-off valve MK4 Supra Turbo automatic when shifting.

edit: MY12 here, so I'm not sure when this was supposedly fixed

it so annoying that Lexus has no fix. I have done the belt and pulley with the same results within 8-10 weeks .

Can a slipping belt have any impact on acceleration?

I am also experiencing the same symptoms brought up by everyone else. Will bring it up next time the car is in for servicing at Lexus of Clearwater.

They will not do anything on an extended warranty unless something is broken . I payed for repair out of own pocket to have it silent for two months and return . Its a design flaw and Lexus sucks for not fixing it or developing a fix .

I think they did develop a fix for it with the RCF

I think that's what Lance said at one point, along with the many upgrades the blue top got

Just got my
Monster back from massive 60k service . The tech told me it's he belt, pulley , or AC. I told him my AC cycles every 10 seconds causing a slight rpm fluctuation and my tensioner and pulley have already been replaced. I want them to replace my AC compressor . Going to talk to the foreman and Lexus extra care adjuster . It's bs that o have a warranty and they don't want to attempt a fix. I don't want the car screatching when I shift

Damn bro. I can't believe warranty doesn't cover it!
