Using ISx50 17" wheels on ISF (Rear) for Drag Racing
Hi Guys , i have a set of OEM wheels (18x8) wrapped with snow tires (24/40/17), and was thinking of using two of them on the rear of my ISF, and wrap em with 245/45/17 (Hoosier DOT Drag Radials), I installed one of the wheels, and it did clear the caliper , but it was very close, the only think is it did touch the balance weights inside the rim, which i can have the weight to be installed on the out side. my question is did anyone use the OEM 17" wheels (ISx50) on the ISF with drag Radials? and what size/ brand DRs you suggest?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Drag Setup
I'm looking into picking up a drag racing setup. I'm thinking about the following setup:
Wheels: XXR 550 17x9.25 Chromium Black 5-100/5-114.3 [+36mm]
https://www.nlmotoring.com/XXR-550-W.../550791050.htm
Tires: Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S - P275/40-17, Radial, R2 Compound, Blackwall
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mtt-3470/overview/
or
Tire, Mickey Thompson ET Street R, P245/45-17, Radial, R2 Compound, Blackwall,
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/mtt-3570/overview/
I've seen that a member is running the XXR wheels on the rear and clearance isn't an issue. I'm on stock suspension in the rear. Which MT tire should I get between the two above? Also, everyone seems to rave about the MT tires but does anybody else have any experience with the XXR wheels?
Are there any other wheels you can suggest? I'm looking for something to drive and run at the drag strip. I'll keep my stock 2012 wheels for daily street duty and road course use. Thanks!

go for the kosei k6r on tire rack or k8r both on clearance and are 17-18lbs depending which ones you choose.
Select 2017 subaru sti to view them check box 17" size . tirerack will not show up 17" for isf cuz they think they dont fit. I ran buddyclub p1 (kosei k1) and advised someone here to go with kosei and they bought the k6r and they fit. can't beat $79-99 closeout pricing.
just checked tire rack only 1 in k6r
3 in k8r, i would go for these without a hunch

If I were drag racing my F, the first thing I would do is replace the rear end housing bushings. Use the poly ones from Figs. They will stabilize the differential and allow the tires to plant themselves. They will prevent axle hop and save your rear end. Probably worth 2/10's of a second.
Although you may be able to get around it, I'd be sure to have a positraction or locking differential. Another 2/10's
If you wanted to get serious, find someone with leaking front shocks. Drill them to remove more fluid. They will allow more weight transfer. At least a 10th
Remove all unnecessary weight. Don't get crazy, but..... Another 10th
Experiment with your drag tires.... At least 2/10's

Are drag radials really necessary on this car?
I had no problem cutting 1.8 60s at the track on street tires in my previous car, maybe my drag strip is just sticky?
Didnt seem like the ISF's on drag radials were really cutting amazing 60 foots to justify the extra expense and hastle to me if I can cut 1.8s on street tires lol
I mean the most recent ISF that touched 11s only did a 1.88 60 on drag radials, we really cant pull that on street tires?

not sure if my tracks just really sticky or the car just worked well at the drag strip..generally speaking cars that are designed for handling like the ISF arent the best on the drag strip
Id really be surprised if I had issues spinning on the drag strip with some stickier street tires such as a michelin Pilot sport though. Not sure how these continental all seasons will do

The k8r from images I came across looks like a non drop cener wheel its more of a straighter barrel inside with a much smaller step in this is what makes them a great fit for big brakes. I would say yes they will fit. and if you want to compare your stock offsets with aftermarket offsets wheels then go on willtheyfit.com

and yes you can cut a simillar time with a lowtread rating of 200 or less on a street tire on the dragstrip, if you aint spinning then you're winning. And it does come down to track prep, I went to 3 different tracks in my area with different results on same car, same mods, same tires. 1.8s you're deffinately a full bolt on car as you got the low end grunt to take advantage of the prepped track and tires. i dont have headers yet and havent touched below 1.95 on street or drag radials.

I currently have just an x-force cat-back exhaust. Maybe instead of a drag radials setup I could just put the money towards my next tire setup of either AD08R or RE11A tires, both have a 200 tread wear rating. I’m starting to run my car on road courses more so these would be great tires for that as well.
The 1/8th mile strip I frequent most actually is non-prepped and you launch from a concrete slab so I can’t break past a 2.19 60 foot on 275/30/19 Firehawk Indy 500 tires. I’ve also ran at Auto Club Speedway for the 1/4 mile but it seems like everyone runs slower there after talking with several ISFs that are Full Bolt On and aren’t in the low 12s like I’ve seen many others with same setups on this forum.
