Default Is There a Rotor Replacement DIY

Hello,

I am considering doing the $1300 rotor and pad change myself. I have found the DIY for brake pad change, but not for the rotors. Does anyone know if there is a write up for it?

Thanks,
Michael

Seen some Raybestos brand front rotors for sale on eBay for $103 a piece. Don't know how good that brand and rotor is verses the Brembo stock rotors.

Anyone know of a DIY for the rotor replacement?

Thanks

Pull the caliper off and the rotor will come off. Two bolts. Pretty simple.

As BB said, 2 bolts hold the caliper in the back...take them out, pull off the caliper...rotor slides right off. It's a "floating" assembly...

Is that how much it costs to do this at the dealership?

If it is, there is no way I'm not doing this myself considering how easy this is to do.

No, $1300 is about what the parts cost alone. Tack on a ton more $ to get a dealer to do it. Best price was from Sewell Lexus shipped.

Thanks. Any chance you (or anyone) know the torque spec for the bolts holding the caliper to the hub. Don't want to break the bolt or have it come loose on me.

Thanks,
Michael

Here's everything you need to know for the front brakes:

Thanks for the help. That was just what I needed. Took about 2 hours to replace the rotors and pads, using a single jack and raising only one side at a time. Not bad if I do say so myself.

Has anyone done the rear rotor DIY? Or is it the same steps as the front rotors?
