From the bulletin:

Lexus’ usual customer care amenities of car wash and fuel fill-up apply to this safety recall.

here is some important info (found on this page: http://www.lexus.com/recall/ ) :

The Brake Override System operates when these conditions are met:

a) The throttle opening is greater than 1/3

b) Vehicle speed is above 5 mph

c) Brakes are applied firmly

d) The accelerator pedal is applied before the brake pedal

Your posting pages from the Bulletin pdf file ??

I also just posted the "Brake Override System" pdf file, in my same Official LSB post #40

These 2 pdf docs will help answer all of our questions & concerns for the IS-F..

Enjoy !!

Ah ok I erased all but the part about when the brake override kicks in because that wasn't in the PDF. From how I am interpreting them you can kiss burnouts goodbye because those entail pressing the brake firmly and throttle more than 1/3.

^

It would not if you apply the brake first before the throttle.

I just pulled this from the pdf for you...

"Please Note:

In Order to activate the Brake Override System, the accelerator pedal must be pressed before the brake pedal."

So to all Burnout Lovers, your happy times can continue

I will do the recall just because I think the potential benefits (or protection) outweighs the possible "performance" restriction which to me is inconsequential.

I don't think it will change the fact that it is a great car even after this mod.

This is bull****. They should have made an allowance to disable the "driver confidence" measure when VDC is switched off. I did not agree to buy a nanny car.

The problem with this, I'm not sure I can even enjoy it now, so bummed even if I avoid the update, I just lost Lexus 5 star service, one of the main reasons for buying.

I first expressed my concern about this possibility HERE

Also from the PDF:

What If a Customer Does Not Want Safety Recall 9LG Performed
Although Lexus is making every effort to quickly remedy all vehicles covered by Safety Recall 9LG, in rare cases customers may decline the remedy. In these cases, we request you to work with the customer, following these steps:
1. Determine why the customer has declined the Safety Recall 9LG remedy. Utilize the Safety Recall 9LG Q&A and the Service Consultant Job Aid to educate the customer on the remedy as necessary.
2. Remind the customer (as stated in the Owner’s Letter) that if they are not satisfied with the modification of the accelerator pedal after it is completed, a replacement accelerator pedal will be offered.
3. Immediately contact your Field Technical Specialist (FTS) for further instructions.
I see no reason for this modification on my car. I have no fears of pushing the wrong pedals, and since this whole thing has been pretty well debunked (anyone see the statistical analysis? IT'S HEAVILY BIASED TOWARD OLDER DRIVERS just as it was in Audi's case years ago). As long as I can still feel my feet, my car will not be modified.

^^ It's pretty much Damage Control at this point....

Opening Paragraph:

"Lexus has determined that this defect does not exist in vehicles in which the driver side floor mat is compatible with the vehicle and properly secured."

They have to make things dummy proof in these struggling times!!!!

If I elect not to have it done whats the time period I had to change my mind? I'm just thinking of pros and cons come time to sell the car. Some people may want it others dont, is there a time frame for doing this such as during the warranty period or since this is a "safety" issue will it continue to be covered even after the warranty period should the new owner want to have it done?

There is no, "election." They will do this change 10 years from now, or tomorrow morning.

In your absent mindedness, if you give them the car for an oil change, when they hand you back the key fob, it's done.

Do not mistake this for a choice. You're only choice is to not take the car for service to Lexus.
