I think I need to add one more thing about the M vs F. That is reliability. The entire time I owned my F I had zero issues. Everything worked as it was supposed to. The M hasn't been so good. There hasn't been any major issues, but electrical gremlins seem to be the norm with these cars.

My car has had an i-Drive issue since day one. There are six preset buttons that you can program to do various tasks in i-Drive like change a radio station of dial a phone number. These buttons will show you what they are set up to do if you just touch the face of the button and not push it. In my car, these preset buttons think I am touching them when I'm not. It has been to the deal twice for this and goes back on Monday because it still isn't fixed. Granted, this is an isolated issue and I have yet to come across anyone who has had this problem before, but it is still frustrating. I've also had warning messages come up that one of my parking lamps is out even though it isn't. This is a common problem from what I have read.

I don't feel like the M is poorly built, however I don't think BMW is as good as Lexus when it come to integrating technology into a car. I would have a hard time owning a late model BMW after the warranty has expired.

Cabinetman - Good info for us IS350 folks with IS-F on our radar, much appreciated.

What's your opinion of the ride difference between the IS-F and IS250/350?

I have never driven a IS250/350 so I can't compare.

The IS-F ride is noticeably harsher compared to stock IS250. The ride is a tad harsher than FSport springs. Once you ride in the F for awhile you start to get used to the ride quality.

Thanks for the feedback. I have Eibach 350's (similar if not the same as F-Sports) on my IS, ride is ok.

Drove the M3 quite a few times, and all I have to say is meh. Never liked it, the C63 and the IS-F were much closer IMO. The M3 may have faster track times but I don't know anyone who can drive an M to its limits. IMHO, all three cars are good cars, but it comes down to which you can drive on the street with most pleasure.

there are so many people who drive both the m3 and c63 amg, and probably every other day in the past two months since its gotten really cold here in so cal, ive seen at least one of them (not the regular 3 series or c class) on tow trucks being driven away to the dealerships. from what ive seen, there are no body damage to any of the cars, so i can only presume its an electrical or engine trouble.

back to Dave600hL's comment- i completely agree. it is ultimately the driver who dictates whether the car he or she drives is to their standards. i was fortunate to drive both the bimmer and mb prior to the F and i personally was not attracted to them. its nothing against the car itself; it just didnt fit me. but the F, even with the harsh suspension and all, it fit the bill perfectly. the luxury and the sporty feel all meshed into one. i simply felt that neither bmw nor mercedes could emulate that into their super sedans. there have been much negative talk about the IS F not being a true "competitor" for the m3 or c63, but at least we know it wont break down and be subjugated for towing shortly after it has left the dealer's lot.
