If your suspension bushings were all Heim joints, there would be an advantage to pillowballs for the shocks. Since the bushings are all rubber, there is no advantage to pillowballs. If we had a McPherson strut suspension, there might be an advantage to pillowball mounts, but since we don't...

Downside - pillowball mounts will transfer more road noise directly to the chassis. So would Heim jointed suspension. A LOT of road noise, but the suspension geometry would be guaranteed perfectly what the designer intended at all times.

^ Yup.

Pillowballs are solid metal bearings. More direct feel, less deflection, but more NVH.

Rubber mounts have a rubber insert in place of the metal bearing, it will absorb more NVH.

Honestly, go with rubber mounts unless you are full on racing.

If I go with the Pillowballs, will the road noise be worse than on the stock suspension?

i have pillowballs. They made no noise.. With our setup like lobux said we dont have a suspension where we rely on the upper mount.

I have JIC FLT TAR and I am very happy with them. Those have rubber mounts too, that will provide way more comfort at the cost of feeling the road less, but that is no different from the stock suspension.

Does anyone know if the M3 has rubber mounts too?
