finaly in the 12's

hey guys
just to let you know that i just became a new member into the 12 second club. finally after a couple of runs ran 12.97 with a 2.1 60' @ 108 mph on stock rims. stock tires were 34psi.
i know the car is a lot faster than the time indicate but I'm having a really hard time launching the car. i can only launch the car at 800 RPM's ( and rolling the throttle) if i slam it or launch it harder will send the rear wheels into smoke and that has been my best 60' time and the car should be able to do 1.9. also 2nd gear also goes into wheel spin so once i can get this under control time should be coming down...we also had a pretty strong head wind. It summer here in the D.R , its really hot so once winter comes and the heat and the hummitity come down a bit, the car should do a lot better oh and the car only has 760 miles so i know it will get better once the engine gets some more miles on it.

Maybe i should try the 18 inch rims and those mt's that I think joez was talking about. see if i can get the car to launch at the 1500-1700rpm range that it should be launching that should post some good times. what you think ?

my mods are
joez intake tunbe
tom's intake
joez pts exhaust
tom's shifter
front and rear spacers

Congrats man. looks like the weather wasn't very good the IS350 only ran 13.7 that day even with a good 60' time. Also, consider the gas in the D.R. is not that great

Juanca Aug 4, 2009 07:16 AM

I've found that in some other countries (in South America for instance) gas is better than in the US. Some markets have 98, 97, 95, 90, and 85 octane standard in all gas stations. What kind of gas can you get in the D.R.?

juice14 Aug 4, 2009 12:27 PM

Im sure some places close to Venezuela might get better gas, but not in the D.R. they dont even sell 93 octane unless you get some VP racing gas at some shop.. So running 12.9 on an ISF would be the equivalent of running mid 12's here in the USA. plus the awful weather and weird winds.

well according to ship manifest we should be getting 93 oct. fuel but by the time it reaches the pumps its it comes down. unless you go to specific pump........ that are ethical players...
anyway I always use a mixture of vp 101 oct with the pump gas or sunoco 104 with pump gas so on average i'll have about a 93 94 oct.. but my main problem, like i said is the 60 we had another ISF here run 12.93 but had a 1.95 60' that day i ran a 12.96 with a 2.17 60' so if you do the math that run should be a 12.7 or less, if I can match the 60' times. if you add to the hot weather and only 700 miles on the odo the car should get better as it keeps braking in..... so ill keep you posted. ill get better tires too see if i can get tthoses 60; down to 1.8 or 1.7 imagine the is350 are getting bette 60' times than Iam... jejejejej
but well get there

CrazyMPG Aug 4, 2009 06:31 PM

congrats man!

I also got my IS-F to 12.929 but that was the car stock....no mods at all...lol...and it was a 85 degree day at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, CA.
