Sorry for the tall video. Also, its best heard from 0 - 6 seconds in movie. I can hear this outside the car near the drivers side wheel. I have never tracked this car. I have never done 1/4 mile racing. I drive to and from work. This appeared after a slow 35 mph trip through the city to the gym with the wife.

I can live with it if its not the end of the engine. I simply don't have the time/energy to fight the dealership right now :-/ What are y'alls suggestions?

Also, Salil022, can you remove the private settings from your videos?

My 2008 did it as well but I never had a problem with it during the 45000km I had it even with track use. My 2010 does not have this clicking noise

The real question is, does this affect long term reliability and driveability.

Exactly this.

My STi engine would click, tick, shake, rumble and lasted 80k miles through races and 24psi daily. All I cared was that I could get to work!

If this is a head issue, how come we haven't seen this noise come from other places other than the drivers side? Forgive my ignorance if my conclusion from reading this thread is wrong.

Interesting...I've noticed the exact same noise with my 2008 F, currently at ~86k and rising (daily driven). The clicking noise appear to be louder recently moreso on startup and heavy acceleration, so i'm interested in this as well. I'll ask my service rep at my next oil change

I hear mine from time to time after fresh oil / oil change.... Just rolled 80k miles.

My tech listens to it from time to time as well.. Just a happy valve tapping.

I'm not worried.. (also purchased extended warranty before 50k....)

Done the 60k mile Valve Clearance Inspection yet?

Thanks!

I figured from the start that if I wanted a totally quiet appliance of a car I would have bought an ES350 (F-That!) (pun intended)

Mine does it randomly on cold cycle only without any regard for the age of the oil. It really sounds like an oil pressure related issue with the exhaust variable valve timing sprocket to me because it's a very random tapping sound. You can hear it at idle, but it disappears at 1200 rpm. Very weird, but I sent my video to Lexus and asked if there is anything to be concerned about. They're not saying anything at all to me about it, so I figure it can't be bad. It never happens hot, and it is not even in the same ballpark as the IS350 cam sprocket rattle. I traded my 350 because I didn't ever want to hear that noise again after the second time they'd changed the sprockets under warranty.

FWIW, the sound went away for me. I'm sure it will be back. Whatever, I'll just drive this car into the ground like I intended from the get go!

Enjoy the cars everyone we have new school hot rods!

If anyone knows anything about Yamaha... their engines all run "loose" this means the engine sounds like it's going to rattle itself to pieces, but they are built that way and are just fine.

Huh, never knew that.

My tick is back and you know what, I don't care. I'll chalk it up to hot rod engine
