How often do coilovers need to be rebuilt? Do they squeak after awhile?

Also how much do they usually cost to install?

The coilovers don't have a rebuild "mileage". Basically whenever you feel they have worn out over time or you want to freshen them up.

BC Racing doesn't do rebuild in the traditional sense. They offer a full replacement damper cartridge for only $95 shipped. That's a hell of a deal. You basically just swap over your mounting hardware to the new damper and you have a basically new system. This method is much better because you don't have all the down-time for your vehicle while you have to ship out your coilvoers to get rebuilt, like some companies make you do. So you save time and money.

Install is very easy and can be done by a competent home wrencher. Or a shop install is usually 200-300 bucks.

Wow!! Talk about "Department of redundancy department"

What I meant to ask was, the headlights look a little darker than stock. I ws wondering if they were painted or a vinyl. I've been looking to do this forever but can't make up my mind.

No the Headlights are not covered. The Tail lights were painted. We had an M5 on display that had the film. I prefer them painted over the film.

I searched a few forums for reviews and most people liked BC's better, because of the ride and also for the price...

The G35 and Z crowd seem to love em.

Element Tuning is a huge tuning shop, they mostly do Subarus. They have a full on badass Time Attack STI that they campaign in the Redline Time Attacks. They recently switched over to BC Racing coilovers from the JIC's they used to run and they love the BCR's. Phil said that the BCR's cured the wheel hop he was getting coming out of tight corners.

He has been racing a long time and knows his suspensions. I trust his opinion
What are the coil spring rates?

I would personally go with BCR over JIC.

The spring rates we are doing for the IS-F are 14k/10k. We had these tested out on the first IS-F and he loved them.

If you want to go with a different rate you can spec your own setup when you order
