Replace ML Sub in factory location
whoops, there are actually some 8's of the kciker same subs. Same problem with response, however.
also, pioneer does make a sub that will fit... it's just a matter of whether or not it will function as a free air sub without any problems: http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...llow/TS-SW841D
Any thoughts on how to choose a sub for free-air that isn't specified as such?

Are you going to do the install or are you going to have a shop do it? I would take the F to a respected custom sound or even just a sound shop and let them look at the sub and space and offer you recommendations on subs, types of, power needed, etc. My last car had 4 11" Focal Subs (I was hesitant to put them in since I was used to JL and Kicker) in it and they were awesome subs. I would pick up another set of Focal's any day.
hey, did you ever replace your sub? i gotta get more sound out of this car also
has anyone just installed an amp and box with speakers in the back? last time i did this nonsense was back in high school like 8 years ago and i had to swap the head unit but i don't want to do all that with the ML package i have...

this thread would be better served in the audio section of the forum. i was reading about a replacement for 100 bukcs that works with factory amps and is same size and is better made.
IMO the stock ML system sounds awesome, and I wouldn't change a thing other than doing the DVD/Nav hack so I could have "on the fly capabilities". Why add weight and void your warranty with an aftermarket set up? If you must, add a decent sized amp under your seat or in the trunk and run a custom box with 10's or 12's in the small of the trunk. If you're going to do it, do it right. No other sub install will work and look the same as doing this
