Default Corrected 1/4 mile

Interesting...I plugged the approx DA of +2250 ft for my last 1/4 mile into the calculator on dragtimes.com. 12.274@118.69 becomes 11.952@121.952. Our cars sure launch slowly, but they build good speed down the stretch.

Default FBO ISF 1500da

Made it back out to San Antonio raceway last night. Was hoping for the 12.0-12.3 range. Ended up with 12.5x 4 runs in a row. I was trapping 114-115ish. 2.0 60fts every time. No wheel slippage. And I didn't remove spare.

Should the the car be running a little faster?

Mods:
ppe headers
rr racing tune and intake
joe Z elbow
3 inch catless exhaust with x pipe

Check to see what the DA was. Also you need to get your 60' down at least into the high 1.8's to run 12.0's i belive.

Default All show, no go

I would have posted this sooner, but I've been too busy hanging my head in shame due to being an embarrassment to the F community last Friday. My first time on a drag strip - Toronto Motorsports Park (which is actually in Cayuga, don't ask), it was a ton of fun, but I was terrible at it. I WASN'T terrible at spinning my tires for the first 60'. I went up against my buddy's 2011 Mustang GT for the first two runs. He's got a tune, exhaust and 4.10 gearing. After the first run it was apparent that i could stop worrying about winning, and just focus on launching. If you notice my reaction time for the first run, I was spending more time wondering what RPM I should launch at as opposed to watching the tree. My third run was against a stock 2015 STI, some aero and rims, but engine was stock. I ran with stock tire pressure, traction control off, and Sport Mode. I let the car shift all of the runs as I was trying not to overwhelm my brain with too many things the first time out. What surprised me was my second run, I had a better R/T than my buddy, better 60', and he still just reeled me in and passed me. All-in-all I had a ton of fun and I'd definitely do it again. I certainly didn't appreciate how technical it can be getting a proper launch. It was difficult enough for me to have one foot on the brake and one foot on the gas at the same time, just seemed very counterintuitive. It was amazing just seeing all the other cars there as well. There was a late 60's-ish Camaro that ran mid-8's!! I have way more respect for the IS-F guys running 12's! My ego has definitely been checked.

Details on the car? Definitely need to get those 60’ times down. Should be able to cut under a 2.0 with better tires. My Firestone’s were only able to hit a 2.0 but that put me at a high 12, which still isn’t great.

With headers now im expecting worse traction issues that hopefully the top end can comp for. Some drag tires will be on the list for next year.

Id be more than happy to get in te high 12's! Car has HPS intake, JoeZ exhaust and RRR Tune, Michelin PSS.
Whats your strategy for launch?

I tried them all, which is why my times were all over the place. I should have stuck with one and made slight changes.

The general consensus is; traction and stability control off, SPORT on, manual mode, left foot on brake, release and stab throttle at the same time, shift at limiter.

I tried a number of combos and perfecting that method is ideal. Odd with those tires you weren’t able to get the 60’ down. They should be every bit as sticky as my Firestone’s.

I always do just a quick wheel spin to remove dirt and debris and get a slight amount of heat in them before. A street tire isn’t like a slick though that takes a huge burnout to get warm. You go too much it just gets greasy.

If the weather here holds out, i might go back tonight and ill definitely try that.
Do you ket any air out of your tires? I just ran stock PSI (36) and went around the water box and didnt do a burnout.

my best was always leaving off idle. drop rear psi to around 28 and do a small burnout to clean the tires off and get a little heat into them.

Yes, drop the pressures like mentioned above. Dialing in the perfect pressure will just take a few consistent runs to gauge.

Also perhaps you are hesitating from stabbing the throttle upon letting the brake go which is tripping the lights early on a roll. Otherwise even on ****ty tires I’d expect better than a 2.5 60’
