I'm not sold on the PS2s... on various magazine tests over the years, they've placed well because of wet performance, not dry performance. As R&T put it, their all-around performance is due to similar feel and grip on both wet and dry surfaces. That's probably why they are selected for OEM purposes. But reading between the lines of various magazine reviews - or better yet, examining the actual test results when available (as in the R&T comparo), it's clear that on dry surfaces, the PS2s are outperformed by numerous offerings, including those from Yokohama, Continental, Goodyear, and even BFG. Subjective commentary from test drivers in these comparos also suggest that some of these offered better driving feel than the PS2s while on dry surfaces.

I'm going to stick with the Bridgestones til I wear them out, but I'll probably replace them a bit early and I think I'll go with Yokohama.

heres what i would rank:

1. Pilot Sport 2 (most well rounded performance)
2. Bridgestone RE-01R (ultimate performance dry)
3. BFGoodrich KDW 2 (good for wet, dry)
4. Goodyear F1 GS-D3 (good for wet)
4. Toyo T1-R (budget performance tire wet, dry)
6. Khumo Ecsta MX (budget performance tire, long life, wet performance as good as PS2)

Not surprisingly the lower half are cheaper than the upper half. Some of these tires have limitations based on available size.

That said, the Bridgestone RE-050A is still a good tire, but for the price you could definitely venture to one of the above.

I will be getting a set of T1-Rs soon as I have read the GS-D3 isnt that great of a tire, especially for the price.
