Nitto 555's are decent (I have them on my 350 now), but IMO they don't grip as well as I expected.

Kumho Ecsta SPT looks to be a great alternative to the PS2s costing half as much without sacrificing much in the way of performance.

You other alternative is the Toyo Proxy T1-R which is relatively inexpensive compared to the PS2s as well and offer a rim protector whereas the Kumhos don't.

Front: $228 each
Rear: $242 each

Do the Eagle F1 GSD3's.

To the Kumho and Nitto people - they are decent tires. I have Nitto's on my current car. I would not buy again. But they in no way, shape, or form even begin to compare to Pilot Sport's or Eagle F1. There's a reason they are so much cheaper.

The Eagle F1s don't come in both the OEM front and rear sizes. There are seriously only a very few tires that come in the sizes we need. I think I counted like 7 total with one being a snow tire.

The Eagle F1s come in the right size for the back.. but the front you need to get 35 tread length rather then 40

Yeah unless the car is lowered, with a 35 it will look silly with the extra wheel gap as the front already has a bigger gap than what most of us like. Could do a 235/35/19 up front which will still give you a slightly bigger wheel gap.

I have the Potenzas myself. I have never driven an ISF with the PS2's but I have heard they are nice. I have absolutely no complaints about my Potenzas whatsoever. So if somebody doesn't feel like dropping the $$$ on the PS2's, the Potenzas are more than adequate. I've heard the PS2's lifespan is just horrible? Is this true? My potenzas aren't lasting quite as long as I would've hoped but I heard the Michelins are pretty bad.

Lemme know.

I have the Potenzas on my IS350. They're a very good tire. I didn't want to pay more for the PS2 knowing I could only take advantage of what they offer on rare occasions. The Bridgestones work very well and typically last me ~30k.

I have the potenza's on my car wish it were the ps2's. I'm leaning toward the PS2. How bad is the tire wear, I drive conservative.

I agree here having spoken to them myself as well. Also if you look at the list of cars that come with PS2s stock, you will be impressed. From the M3 to the 911 GT3.

Pilot Cups are track tires.

PS2s are the real deal, sticky as anything legal.

I have the GY Eagles F1's GSD3s mentioned on my GS and they are insane as well. I love them. Have not taken it to the track yet but on the road, sticky once they heat up. I find their wet traction AMAZING, like reviews say.

One thing the GSD3s are made in different plants. I made sure mine was made in the German plant or I would have taken them back.

I would not do Nitto or Kumho on the IS-F unless you really just cruise in the car.

Kumho may be great for first few thousands miles. After that, flat spot and vibration, noisy and half of performance gone before it gets to half-life. BTW, this was from street driving, not tracked.

I am leaning toward a 235 front and 265 rear setup on the PS2's.

Simply do not cheap out on tires. Doesn't matter if you have Brembo, hell 16 caliper pistons, lightweight wheels, revised suspension etc if you have crappy tires.

This is a fundamental modding miss! So many people (I was one of them) modify the entire car or buy a highly OEM modified car then skimp out on tires. Tires can greatly help/hurt improve braking, traction even fuel economy.

A great deal of effort was also done to chose certain tires for the IS-F. Though Lexus and Michelin are partners.

FWIW, the tires on the Bugatti Verynon are I think 20-25k for the set
