IS-F and Z06 Highway Fun
So I was driving back to school on Sunday from Chicago. I was coming down 294S to I-80, for all you Chicago peeps.
Up ahead I noticed an 04 model z06(405 hp). It atleast had aftermarket exhaust and some really nice rims and was blacked out. I think there was more under the hood but I'm not sure. Anyways, after miles of single lane construction filled traffic we finally got some room to dance.
I dropped the F into 3rd as we were side by side going around 70 mph. We both hit it hard. I quickly jumped about 4 to 5 cars on him. Not sure why I got such a jump. I could hear him downshift prior to the takeoff. So I jumped about 4-5 on him, and then neither of us budged an inch all the way up to 145ish. After we slowed down, we exchanged the respectful thumbs up and went our own ways.
So from 70 to 145 the F hung with or took on, however you look at it, the Zed. Keep in mind this was not a newer model Z06 with 505 hp. It was the one with 405hp.
Just thought some owners/potential buyers/non-believers would enjoy the experience. Sorry for the long post.

I have noticed that my IS-F feels alot more responsive after break in. Just plain faster to be honest. It truly is a beast from a roll with all that torque.
And no I'm not exagerating or a terrible judge of distance. Maybe he was late on the gas but truth is, i was pulling away and he wasn't catching up at all.
Oh and one more thing. Me+video camera+145 mph=one messy accident caught on tape. I was by myself. Be safe and good day.

Yeah i think a c6 z06 would've embarrassed me pretty badly. I think after 2 days of driving i must have spotted around 1000 vettes. I love the car there are just so many on the road.

a c5 Z06 w/ exhaust from what the poster said... is still faster than many cars on the market right now.
And anyway it is still crazy when this car can run mid 12's in stock form. So yeah call me one of the non-believers or whatever you want. Pulling 5-6 cars on a modified c5 Z06 is not happening unless the guy was suffering from a seizure during each shift.
*edit*
I believe you beat the driver and not the car. Either way you won..soo i guess it doesn't matter...

hmmm, I did see his eyes roll back just before take off. Yeah I'm not looking for any justification. I assumed I jumped it half a second before he did and that is what caused the head start. But the fact that an easy low 12 second stock car could not catch me was what I was more impressed by, that's it.

You beat the car and the driver.
