What is dyno?
What is dyno? I saw an IS-F syno results but why only 333HP and 318LB-FT of torque? Wasn't it supposed to be 400+hp and high 300lb-ft torque?
Why dyno results show lower hp than the actual ones?
Please advise
Thanks in advance

414 is the crank hp at the flywheel of the engine. that engine must turn the transmission, drive shaft, rear end, and the wheels and rotors. in order to do that power is used, so the resulting power that actually makes it to the ground and is used to propel the car foreword is the 333. the rest of the power is used to turn the gears to get the power to the ground. the same thing applies for torque. normal drive train loss is 15-20% sometimes even 10%, but every car is different.
hope that helped

also, you guys have to remember that every dyno is different as well. Dynojets are known for putting out higher numbers than most (thats where I dynoed my civic =p.). A mustang dyno will give u lower readings because they have you strapped on two rollers (dynojets have one roller). I've seen mustang dynos read 100whp less than a dynojet. I would prefer to use a Dynamics Dynometer because you can do everything on those. At the end of the day, a dyno is just a tool to see if you are making or losing power while tuning.
so a car producing 300hp to the wheels actually would have more hp than a car that is rated 325hp at the crank
