Gt-r V Is-f
What do you all think about this:
http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=123431
GT-R priced at $69,850!
This will be a serious price threat to IS-F, M3, RS4, C63!!
With 480hp twin turbo and all wheel drive, the GT-R will be above and beyond all 4 mentioned above.
Of course the only thing missing will be the premium badge but then again the GT-R name is premium enough.
What do you think, would any of you consider the GT-R knowing it's only a few more thousand than the IS-F?

LOS ANGELES — Nissan announced today that its 2009 Nissan GT-R will be priced at $69,850 for the base model, and $71,900 for the Premium trim. Both prices include delivery charges.
I'm getting in Line at the Nissan dealership..

I really think that the GT-R is a much better deal if the estimated $60K base price for the IS-F is correct. Like 1QWKGS4 said, it's a no brainer. The IS-F will be more luxurious and arguably more refined, but it will be a tough sell at a base price of $60K. If we are including coupes in the comparison, then there is the Z06 Corvette for about the same price as the GT-R. The Z06 is also a very good value. Even a base 08 Corvette will be faster than the IS-F, and they will cost about $10K less. If Lexus prices the IS-F over $52K (base), I believe dealers will have a hard time selling them. I am still considering the IS-F, but I am waiting for pricing to be announced before I put down a deposit. If the price is too high, I'm out.
Comparing coupes to sedans is kind of like comparing apples to oranges though. They really appeal to different people. Many people getting a sedan want the practicality of four doors. That is why I like sedans. It's just hard to get kids in and out of the back of a coupe. The problem is that the IS-F has very little room in the back seat, and for me this is another consideration. For people that don't need the convenience of 4 doors, why not just get a coupe?

This is like saying the GT-R will beat any mini-van out there... we're comparing apples to oranges just based on that they're priced close. The GT-R is the same price at the base LS, but the person buying the LS isn't comparing it to the GT-R.
With this said... 0-60 in mid 3, and the track numbers are totally ILLLLLL for $70K. This will be a threat to the Porsche and Corvette more... for sure.

Motor Trend magazine has this as it's performance times: 0-60 3.5 sec, 1/4 mile in 11.7 at 149.1mph!!!
GT-R runs Nurburgring lap in 7:38!!!
Here is a comparison chart:

7:12* - 173.600 km/h - Radical SR3 Turbo, 320 PS/500 kg (test drive 07/03) (*mfr.)

7:42* - 160.519 km/h – Ford GT, 550 PS/ 1521 kg (*as indicated by Octane magazine, 11/05)
7:42.9 - 160.207 km/h - Corvette Z06, 500 PS/1319 kg, Jan Magnusen, (Sporbilen, jun,26 05)
7:43 - 160.173 km/h - Porsche 996 GT3 RS, factory test driver Walter Roehrl (MOTOR magazine)
I would say that's some good company!
This will be the best performance per dollar by far! The only thing that will compete is the Z06 in this price range. IS-F, M3, RS4, E63 are all going to be in the rear view mirror of this thing.
The GT-R has always been known since the first generation in Japan decades ago to be an everyday driveable car with extreme performance. I think this trend continues with the latest generation coming to the US.
By the way the Porsche 911 Turbo is also a 4 seater!

There most likely will be a markup but that's just the dealers being greedy. It's really unfortunate because the dealers are capitalizing on all the hard work Nissan did to make a spectacular car at a spectacular price. I hope Nissan has some say on what their car can be sold at and can smack those dealers into place!
It might also be a good idea to get in on a pre-order. Put a deposit down and sign a contract stating what model/options/price. Of course this information isn't out just yet but it will be soon.
In either case, the prices will drop to MSRP once the initial hype is gone.
