Default Gt-r V Is-f

What do you all think about this:

http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do...ticleId=123431

GT-R priced at $69,850!

This will be a serious price threat to IS-F, M3, RS4, C63!!

With 480hp twin turbo and all wheel drive, the GT-R will be above and beyond all 4 mentioned above.

Of course the only thing missing will be the premium badge but then again the GT-R name is premium enough.

What do you think, would any of you consider the GT-R knowing it's only a few more thousand than the IS-F?

Yep, just like you said. The GT-R doesn't really compete with these other cars. All are souped up versions of luxury saloons, not dedicated track cars.

LOS ANGELES — Nissan announced today that its 2009 Nissan GT-R will be priced at $69,850 for the base model, and $71,900 for the Premium trim. Both prices include delivery charges.
For $71,900 for nicely trimmed one.. is totally a no-brainer!! I mean 0-60 in 3.5 Secs, Qtr mile in 11.7 secs and 192 top speed with AWD.. Thats Ferrari territory - thats exactly the same speed ratings as a F430 Ferrari for $100,000 dollars cheaper.. The Enzo does 0-60 sec in 3.3 and qtr mile in 11.1 sec. GTR is awesome in value considering an Enzo costs over a cool Million. I'm sure when Nissan brings out on the Spec V model - Its ON big time..

I'm getting in Line at the Nissan dealership..

I really think that the GT-R is a much better deal if the estimated $60K base price for the IS-F is correct. Like 1QWKGS4 said, it's a no brainer. The IS-F will be more luxurious and arguably more refined, but it will be a tough sell at a base price of $60K. If we are including coupes in the comparison, then there is the Z06 Corvette for about the same price as the GT-R. The Z06 is also a very good value. Even a base 08 Corvette will be faster than the IS-F, and they will cost about $10K less. If Lexus prices the IS-F over $52K (base), I believe dealers will have a hard time selling them. I am still considering the IS-F, but I am waiting for pricing to be announced before I put down a deposit. If the price is too high, I'm out.

Comparing coupes to sedans is kind of like comparing apples to oranges though. They really appeal to different people. Many people getting a sedan want the practicality of four doors. That is why I like sedans. It's just hard to get kids in and out of the back of a coupe. The problem is that the IS-F has very little room in the back seat, and for me this is another consideration. For people that don't need the convenience of 4 doors, why not just get a coupe?

i agree that if lexus prices the IS-F too high they r gonna lose a lot of their potential IS-F customers.. and yeah the IS-F is more luxurious but the reason the F division was created was for performance and if lexus cant price this car so that it can sell against the M3, RS4 and especially this GT-R then the IS-F wont hav a chance n hell... if 60k is base for rwd v8 416hp and u can get a twin turbo v6 awd 480hp car for 69K (keep n mind y these cars were made>>> PERFORMANCE) then which one wud u pik???
but i hav faith n Lexus... we'll jus hav to c wut they come up with

I agree. Two different cars for two different people. I think the ISF could be an every day car while the GTR, not so much.

Isn't the new GTR a 2 seater? It's meant to compete against the 911, not the IS-F, M3, C63, RS-4 crowd. I would not cross-shop them.

This is like saying the GT-R will beat any mini-van out there... we're comparing apples to oranges just based on that they're priced close. The GT-R is the same price at the base LS, but the person buying the LS isn't comparing it to the GT-R.

With this said... 0-60 in mid 3, and the track numbers are totally ILLLLLL for $70K. This will be a threat to the Porsche and Corvette more... for sure.

The GT-R is a 4 seater and is classified Grand Touring which is what the GT stands for in it's name. Some could argue that the rear seats are a joke but really it's not bad for a car like this, I am assuming its the equivalent of the G35/G37 coupe. Speaking of back seats, the IS-F is pretty poor in that area even though it has 4 doors. Except for the 2 doors, I would say these cars could be comparable since thier objective is very similar and price isn't that far off either. If the Lexus is in the $60k range then there will be cross shoppers. Let's just forget the Lexus for a second. We know the M3, RS4 and E63 ARE in this price category. This doesn't look very good for them either besides their prestige name brands and faithful followers.

Motor Trend magazine has this as it's performance times: 0-60 3.5 sec, 1/4 mile in 11.7 at 149.1mph!!!

GT-R runs Nurburgring lap in 7:38!!!

Here is a comparison chart:
6:55* - 178.699 km/h - Radical SR8, 360 PS/650 kg, Michael Vergers (sep,28 05)
7:12* - 173.600 km/h - Radical SR3 Turbo, 320 PS/500 kg (test drive 07/03) (*mfr.)
7:28 - 166.652 km/h - Porsche Carrera GT, 612 PS/ 1475 kg, Walther Roehrl, (Autobild 07/04)
7:32* - 164.071 km/h – Pagani Zonda F, 650 PS/ 1230 kg, (*mfr.)
7:34 - 163.586 km/h - Koenigsegg CCR, 806 PS/1418 kg, Horst von Saurma (sport auto), oct,17-18 05
7:36 - 162.631 km/h - Porsche Carrera GT, 612 PS/ 1475 kg, factory test driver Walther Röhrl (02)
7.39* - 161.575 km/h - Porsche 997 GT3, 415 PS/1395 kg, *mfr. (quote sport auto 05/06)
7:40 - 161.217 km/h – Bugatti 16/4 Veyron, 1001 PS/1980 kg (Wheels magazine Australia, 12/05)
7:40 - 161.217 km/h - Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren, Klaus Ludwig (AutoBild 07/04)
7:40 - 161.217 km/h - Porsche 997 Turbo, 480 PS/ ??? kg, Michelin Cup Sport tyres (Motortrend)
7:42* - 160.519 km/h – Ford GT, 550 PS/ 1521 kg (*as indicated by Octane magazine, 11/05)
7:42.9 - 160.207 km/h - Corvette Z06, 500 PS/1319 kg, Jan Magnusen, (Sporbilen, jun,26 05)
7:43 - 160.173 km/h - Porsche 996 GT3 RS, factory test driver Walter Roehrl (MOTOR magazine)

I would say that's some good company!

This will be the best performance per dollar by far! The only thing that will compete is the Z06 in this price range. IS-F, M3, RS4, E63 are all going to be in the rear view mirror of this thing.

The GT-R has always been known since the first generation in Japan decades ago to be an everyday driveable car with extreme performance. I think this trend continues with the latest generation coming to the US.

By the way the Porsche 911 Turbo is also a 4 seater!

I think that 149.1 mph trap speed is a typo. More likely it is 119.1mph based on the hp rating and the weight of the car.

Also, the GTR is a 4 seater.

There most likely will be a markup but that's just the dealers being greedy. It's really unfortunate because the dealers are capitalizing on all the hard work Nissan did to make a spectacular car at a spectacular price. I hope Nissan has some say on what their car can be sold at and can smack those dealers into place!

It might also be a good idea to get in on a pre-order. Put a deposit down and sign a contract stating what model/options/price. Of course this information isn't out just yet but it will be soon.

In either case, the prices will drop to MSRP once the initial hype is gone.
