Gt-r V Is-f
#76
Think of it this way. The GT-R is the ultimate japanese 2-door, while the IS-F is the ultimate japanese 4-door. No other japanese cars can touch those two for 2008-9. Simple solution.. get an IS-F for daily..and GT-R for track. : ) Where are the ballers at?

$70K for GT-R... good luck finding one. You'd be lucky to escape the scum Nissan dealership $85K lighter in the bank account. IS-F you'll get at MSRP easily so $85-65 is really a $20K differential. Not so much a "no-brainer" any more. We'd like to say "not considering dealer markups" and think this were true, but in real world, regular "dealers" with cars in demand mean big money in markups.
I'd take the IS-F just for the "civility" of it all...

My IS350 is good enough for me. GT-R and IS-F are too expensive and somehow too fast since I drive very safely. 400+ hp is a waste for me. However, I would really love to see many different car comparisons with these two new comers. For example, I want to see GT-R vs. IS-F($70k fight). I want to see GT-R vs. Z06 vs. 911 Turbo vs. F430 vs. R8 vs. Gallardo vs. Vantage(All super cars from five different countries). I want to see GT-R vs. M3(NOW that is really interesting since many 3-series guys always think their cars are the best in the whole world, see how the GT-R smoke the new mighty M3). I want to see R35 GT-R vs. R32 Skyline GT-R vs. R33 Skyline GT-R vs. R34 Skyline GT-R. In the soon future I want to see GT-R vs. new NSX vs. LF-A. I want to see GT-R vs. Evo IX vs. Evo X vs. new STI(All japanese AWD Turbocharged fast cars).

Man, you want to see quite a lot. The GT-R is in "SuperCar" league, there with Ferrari, Lamborghini, 911 Turbo, but without the cost. M3, IS-F, Z06 are small time compared to the GT-R. The GT-R is a "poor man's" Ferrari, just because it's "$70K" doesn't mean it's really in the same class as OVERPRICED $70K vehicles. GT-R will burn the Z06, but the ZR-1 will be a nice race and I think GT-R might have to really fight to stay behind the ZR-1.

Insideline tests the GT-R 0-60@3.3sec!
Insideline tests the GT-R!
0-60: 3.3sec
1/4 mile: 11.6sec at 120.9mph

They are claiming this is one of the fastest cars they have tested. Faster than Z06, Viper, 911 Turbo!!

GT-R vs My IS 350
I think that the GT-R doesn't look better than the IS from lexus..I had my IS 350 lowered and put 19" Gold RH's and everywhere I take it it turns heads...some people have told me that I have the Best looking IS in South Florida and with the 93 octane gas that I put it runs pretty fast

A huge threat to the likes of cars such as the z06, Porsche turbo, supra etc.
- I say this because the skyline looks to only have a hard launch. From the numbers that are put out, the GT-R seems to fall back in relation to the competition. With the 11.7 quarter mile time, it seems to be that the skyline will be slower off a role. So off the track, on the street, i don't see it to be a big threat.

BTW, although the GT-R has not been officially dynoed, it is putting out 475 wheel horsepower at the hubs(wheel removed)! Nissan is underrating this beast. Many are guessing the GT-R will be 550 hp at the crank!
Twin Turbos are very easy to mod up. Even some slight modifications will result in another 100hp reliably so now we're talking 650hp. Add to that the built in launch control which will always give you repeatable and optimal results + AWD: I think that should take care of 99% of anything you might encounter on the street. I wouldn't be saying the GT-R won't be a big threat on the street just yet
