Default 500 bhp

Hi everybody,

I'm new here, but today I got letter from lexus that they themself got. All specs about IS-F are written the same except 500 BHP and still written "preliminary".

Selling will start 4 quater this year.

500 hp is out of the question. They may be referring to 500 Nm of torque ( 369 lb/ft).

I definitely wouldn't say it's out of the question... just pretty unlikely.

I expect close to the mid-400's, though.

I doubt it .. I think the LF-A if ever pushed into production would be in the 500hp area ... I seriously doubt the IS-F is in that range

If it's 5L V8, most likely it will put out around 435ish at most. There is no way Toyota can put out a production engine that will do 100HP/liter

Extremely unlikely given everything we know about the IS-F engine so far.

500hp? Not on the IS-F.

Definately on the LF-A. Not on the IS-F.

Someone may have cross-referenced the wrong numbers...

500HP? Brilliant!

What did you use? MS Paint? I haven't used Paint in years -- can you add text with that? Can't be Photoshop, can it? Doubt it.

Impossible to make 100 HP/Liter with a 6800 rpm redline N/A. You need short stroke (meaning higher redline) and the torque will be reduced to 320 - 330 ft-lbs max to spread it across a wider rpm band instead of 350+ ft-lbs. Furthermore, torque converters in automatic transmissions cannot hold the stress of high rpms for extended period of time. Mercedes is building a DSG-style sequential manual transmission just to increase their redlines.

E92 M3 revs up to 8500 rpm to make 105 HP/Liter (420 HP from 4.0 Liter) and the RS4 revs up to 8000 rpm to make 100 HP/Liter (420 HP from 4.2 Liter).

Not that I'm doubting you, but when was the IS-F redline revealed?

What? They have been there and done that, over and over again.
