Many of us are dying to know. Believe me...

Maybe we should turn this into a poll like the hp poll. I'm betting it will be 3625 for the base model and 3710 for the nav/ML package.

Most likely between 3850 - 3950 lbs. Definitely not less.

Considering it is a big V8 5.0 Liter engine, 4 doors sedan, automatic transmission and reinforcements to strengthen and stiffen the chasis and that the IS350 weighs already close to 3600 lbs while the IS-F has bigger dimensions (wider and especially in the front where the nose was elongated to fit the 5.0 Liter V8).

Just to give an idea, the M3 also gained 150 lbs up to 3650 lbs from 3400 lbs despite BMW's frantic effort to keep it light and the 4.0 liter V8 being 70 lbs lighter than the outgoing inline-6 3.2, retaining the 2 + 2 coupe configuration, aluminum hood, all-aluminum suspension, special light weight glass and carbon roof.

3625lbs and 428hp would give the IS-F the same power to weight ratio as the 3815lb, 451hp C63 AMG. Given the way they were lighting up the tires at Laguna Seca, it should be a battle between the Merc and the Lexus for top dog honors in the quarter. The outcome will probably come down to who has the more optimal gearing and shift speeds.

My guess is anywhere from 3600 - 3800lbs. We don't know what (if any) weight-saving measures Lexus has used.

The IS weights what? 3527lbs?

The weight difference between a GS430 and a GS350 is 44lbs.Not sure what the weight difference is between the 3UZ and the 2UR, but can it be very much?

The 8-speed is also lighter than the 6 speed.

My estimate is that the IS-F will weight anywhere between 3570lbs and 3800lbs.

Optimistically I'd agree with Lobux and say ~3625lbs. With that weight and between 425-435hp it would definitely give the C63 a run for its money.

a sub-3700lbs weight would do it for me.

Let us not forget, the IS-F will more than likely be loaded when ordred by dealers. The NAV/ML etc is some heavy stuff.

3800 lbs is very possible.

Even loaded that doesn't sound good at 3800lbs. I'm with you when you used to say cars are getting overweight big time. I can see a regular car gaining weight as we want all the comfort and luxury you can cram into it. But for dedicated OEM performance version cars the weight has to stay down. Why bother building it otherwise? Anyone can have great performance numbers just buy throwing in a high HP engine. However, the days of light weight nimble feeling sports cars are coming to an end.

More and more today I realize that luxury performance sport cars are an oxymoron. I mean 3800 lbs is what my RX330 SUV weighed.

Right, but my expectation is based on my IS350 with lux/nav/ML weighing in at 3620 when the base model is 3527. I figure add about 90 lbs for engine, body, big brakes, 19" tires and wheels, and we're at my IS350's weight before adding telescopic steering wheel, nav, ML, memory seats, etc.. If the base model weighs 3527 and mine weighs 3620, that's almost 100 lbs of "stuff" in the upgrade. Take off 5 lbs for the rear sunshade and we've got ~180 lbs (hopefully) worst case added to the IS350's 3527 base and we end up at 3707. So, I figure a stripped model will run ~3625 and the fully optioned to run ~3700. That's how I arrived at those numbers. I seriously hope I am not wrong. Honestly, I'd be very impressed if it came in under 3400 lbs, but that's wishing for too much. Heck, I'd probably buy one if they were that light.

(The wife is cool with buying the IS-F, but I showed here a picture of the Lotus Exige and now she's thinking differently...)

All of this speculation is based on the assumption that the IS-F won't have any sort of additional weight-saving measures compared to an IS250/350.

Guys thanks for all the input. The reason I ask the curb weight of the IS-F is we have all the hard facts ans Lexus has left this one important detail out. My concern really is even thou the IS-F is rated at 415HP, the dyno will show it more around 380-390 RWHP.

With the added weight, and when your driven the twisties, the car is no longer lite and nimble. If anything the car will feel sluggish.

My question to the guys who were at the Laguna Seca event, even thou you were on an oval track, how did the car feel...was there good road feel thru the steering wheel and drivers seat????

Considering there is a drivetrain loss of 20 - 25% for RWD autos, unless Lexus grossly underrates the IS-F crank HP, with 415 HP, it will make 330 - 340 HP at the wheels.

I guess me feelings are Lexus USED to make pretty much the lightest vehicles in class with BMW. BMW has nearly abandoned that with some heavy cars as of late, especially loaded. Some of the reasons for the LExus lighter weight was to meet head engineer fuel economy goals.

Since the IS-F is not about fuel economy at all, I just think its going to follow the trend today of tons of power and a heavier car.
I would be happy with 3700 lbs.

Maybe I am underestimating what Lexus has done with the F model, but I HIGHLY doubt they tried to lower or maintain the current weight of 3500-3600lbs (from the IS350). I personally cant see it being any lighter than 3,700lbs.
